就在那時候，耶穌說：“父啊，天地的主，我讚美你，因為你把這些事向智慧和聰明的人隱藏起來，卻向嬰孩顯明。

當那些時候，耶穌應時地說：『父啊，天地的主啊，我稱謝你，因為你將這些事向智慧通達的人隱藏起來，向嬰孩卻啓示了。

那時候，耶穌說：「父啊，天地的主，我讚美你，因為你把這些事向有智慧的和有學問的人隱藏起來，而向小孩子們顯明出來。

耶穌又曰、父乎、天地主也、我讚爾、以此事、於智者達者則隱之、於赤子則顯之、

既而曰、父乎、天地主也、我讚爾、以此道、於智賢則隱之、於赤子則顯之、

當時耶穌曰、父歟、天地之主、我讚爾、因爾藏斯道於知者達者、而顯之於赤子、

爾時耶穌又言曰：『頌揚聖父、天地真主！蓋爾隱此道於智巧之人、而啟之於赤子；

At that time Jesus said,“ I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.

At that time Jesus said,“ I praise you, Father. You are Lord of heaven and earth. You have hidden these things from wise and educated people. But you have shown them to little children.

At that time Jesus prayed this prayer:“ O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike.

At that time Jesus said,“ I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and revealed them to infants.

At that time Jesus said,“ I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent, and have revealed them to infants.

At that time Jesus answered and said,“ I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes.

At that season Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou didst hide these things from the wise and understanding, and didst reveal them unto babes:

At that time Jesus said,“ I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and learned and revealed them to infants.

At that time Jesus said,“ I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent, and revealed them to little children.

At that time, Jesus answered,“ I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you hid these things from the wise and understanding, and revealed them to infants.

And Jesus answered him,“ Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.

and they said to him,“ Do you hear what these are saying?” And Jesus said to them,“ Yes; have you never read,“‘ Out of the mouth of infants and nursing babies you have prepared praise’?”

Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger.

In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said,“ I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will.All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”Then turning to the disciples he said privately,“ Blessed are the eyes that see what you see!For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.”

The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man,

as it is written,“ God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that would not see and ears that would not hear, down to this very day.”And David says,“ Let their table become a snare and a trap, a stumbling block and a retribution for them;let their eyes be darkened so that they cannot see, and bend their backs forever.”

But their minds were hardened. For to this day, when they read the old covenant, that same veil remains unlifted, because only through Christ is it taken away.

So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes and said,“ Father, I thank you that you have heard me.

Jesus said,“ For judgment I came into this world, that those who do not see may see, and those who see may become blind.”Some of the Pharisees near him heard these things, and said to him,“ Are we also blind?”Jesus said to them,“ If you were blind, you would have no guilt; but now that you say,‘ We see,’ your guilt remains.

And when he was alone, those around him with the twelve asked him about the parables.And he said to them,“ To you has been given the secret of the kingdom of God, but for those outside everything is in parables,so that“‘ they may indeed see but not perceive, and may indeed hear but not understand, lest they should turn and be forgiven.’”

For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.For it is written,“ I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart.”Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe.For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom,but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles,but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth.But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong;God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are,so that no human being might boast in the presence of God.

Yet among the mature we do impart wisdom, although it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away.But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory.None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

To you, O God of my fathers, I give thanks and praise, for you have given me wisdom and might, and have now made known to me what we asked of you, for you have made known to us the king’s matter.”

so that the word spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled:“ Lord, who has believed what he heard from us, and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”Therefore they could not believe. For again Isaiah said,“ He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, lest they see with their eyes, and understand with their heart, and turn, and I would heal them.”

In that day the deaf shall hear the words of a book, and out of their gloom and darkness the eyes of the blind shall see.The meek shall obtain fresh joy in the Lord, and the poor among mankind shall exult in the Holy One of Israel.

And he answered them,“ To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.For to the one who has, more will be given, and he will have an abundance, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.This is why I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.Indeed, in their case the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled that says:“‘“ You will indeed hear but never understand, and you will indeed see but never perceive.”For this people’s heart has grown dull, and with their ears they can barely hear, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart and turn, and I would heal them.’But blessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears, for they hear.

“ Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”Then I said,“ Ah, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.”But the Lord said to me,“ Do not say,‘ I am only a youth’; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak.Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the Lord.”

and said,“ Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

saying,“ Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”

Thus says the Lord:“ Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool; what is the house that you would build for me, and what is the place of my rest?

For the Lord has poured out upon you a spirit of deep sleep, and has closed your eyes( the prophets), and covered your heads( the seers).And the vision of all this has become to you like the words of a book that is sealed. When men give it to one who can read, saying,“ Read this,” he says,“ I cannot, for it is sealed.”And when they give the book to one who cannot read, saying,“ Read this,” he says,“ I cannot read.”And the Lord said:“ Because this people draw near with their mouth and honor me with their lips, while their hearts are far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment taught by men,therefore, behold, I will again do wonderful things with this people, with wonder upon wonder; and the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the discernment of their discerning men shall be hidden.”

But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them,“ Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them.

Behold, to the Lord your God belong heaven and the heaven of heavens, the earth with all that is in it.Yet the Lord set his heart in love on your fathers and chose their offspring after them, you above all peoples, as you are this day.

Then the Lord called Samuel, and he said,“ Here I am!”and ran to Eli and said,“ Here I am, for you called me.” But he said,“ I did not call; lie down again.” So he went and lay down.And the Lord called again,“ Samuel!” and Samuel arose and went to Eli and said,“ Here I am, for you called me.” But he said,“ I did not call, my son; lie down again.”Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, and the word of the Lord had not yet been revealed to him.And the Lord called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli and said,“ Here I am, for you called me.” Then Eli perceived that the Lord was calling the boy.Therefore Eli said to Samuel,“ Go, lie down, and if he calls you, you shall say,‘ Speak, Lord, for your servant hears.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place.And the Lord came and stood, calling as at other times,“ Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel said,“ Speak, for your servant hears.”Then the Lord said to Samuel,“ Behold, I am about to do a thing in Israel at which the two ears of everyone who hears it will tingle.On that day I will fulfill against Eli all that I have spoken concerning his house, from beginning to end.And I declare to him that I am about to punish his house forever, for the iniquity that he knew, because his sons were blaspheming God, and he did not restrain them.Therefore I swear to the house of Eli that the iniquity of Eli’s house shall not be atoned for by sacrifice or offering forever.”Samuel lay until morning; then he opened the doors of the house of the Lord. And Samuel was afraid to tell the vision to Eli.But Eli called Samuel and said,“ Samuel, my son.” And he said,“ Here I am.”And Eli said,“ What was it that he told you? Do not hide it from me. May God do so to you and more also if you hide anything from me of all that he told you.”So Samuel told him everything and hid nothing from him. And he said,“ It is the Lord. Let him do what seems good to him.”And Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground.And all Israel from Dan to Beersheba knew that Samuel was established as a prophet of the Lord.And the Lord appeared again at Shiloh, for the Lord revealed himself to Samuel at Shiloh by the word of the Lord.

But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth.To this he called you through our gospel, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and shrewd in their own sight!

And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing.In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake.For God, who said,“ Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

all the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, and he does according to his will among the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand or say to him,“ What have you done?”

And Hezekiah prayed before the Lord and said:“ O Lord, the God of Israel, enthroned above the cherubim, you are the God, you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; you have made heaven and earth.

But Abram said to the king of Sodom,“ I have lifted my hand to the Lord, God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth,

And he blessed him and said,“ Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth;

And now we thank you, our God, and praise your glorious name.

Have any of the authorities or the Pharisees believed in him?But this crowd that does not know the law is accursed.”

Samuel was ministering before the Lord, a boy clothed with a linen ephod.

Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise.For the wisdom of this world is folly with God. For it is written,“ He catches the wise in their craftiness,”and again,“ The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.”
