利未在自己家裏為耶穌大擺宴席，有一大羣稅吏和別的人與他們一同坐席。法利賽人和文士就向耶穌的門徒發怨言說：「你們為甚麼跟稅吏和罪人一同吃喝呢？」

安息日，耶穌到一個法利賽人的領袖家裏去吃飯，他們就窺探他。

耶穌在屋裏坐席的時候，有好些稅吏和罪人來，與耶穌和他的門徒一同坐席。法利賽人看見，就對耶穌的門徒說：「你們的老師為甚麼與稅吏和罪人一同吃飯呢？」

眾人看見，都私下議論說：「他竟然到罪人家裏去住宿。」

眾百姓和稅吏已受過約翰的洗，聽見這話，就以上帝為義；

許多稅吏和罪人都挨近耶穌，要聽他講道。法利賽人和文士私下議論說：「這個人接納罪人，又同他們吃飯。」

人子來，也吃也喝，你們又說這人貪食好酒，是稅吏和罪人的朋友。而智慧是由所有智慧的人來證實的。」有一個法利賽人請耶穌和他吃飯，耶穌就到那法利賽人家裏去坐席。

但對那蒙召的，無論是猶太人、希臘人，基督總是上帝的大能，上帝的智慧。因為，上帝的愚拙總比人智慧；上帝的軟弱總比人強壯。弟兄們哪，想一想你們的蒙召，按着人的觀點，有智慧的不多，有能力的不多，有尊貴地位的也不多。但是，上帝揀選了世上愚拙的，為了使有智慧的羞愧；又揀選了世上軟弱的，為了使強壯的羞愧。上帝也揀選了世上卑賤的，被人厭惡的，以及那一無所有的，為要廢掉那樣樣都有的，使凡血肉之軀的，在上帝面前，一個也不能自誇。

耶和華啊，你的工作何其大！你的心思極其深！畜牲一般的人不曉得，愚昧人也不明白。

耶穌和他的門徒也被請去赴宴。

我們各人務必要讓鄰人喜悅，使他得益處，得造就。

我又觀看，我聽見寶座和活物及長老的周圍有許多天使的聲音；他們的數目有千千萬萬，大聲說：「被殺的羔羊配得權能、豐富、智慧、力量、尊貴、榮耀、頌讚。」我又聽見在天上、地上、地底下、滄海裏和天地間一切所有被造之物，都說：「願頌讚、尊貴、榮耀、權勢，都歸給坐在寶座上的那位和羔羊，直到永永遠遠！」四活物就說：「阿們！」眾長老也俯伏敬拜。

有人在那裏為耶穌預備宴席；馬大伺候，拉撒路也在同耶穌坐席的人中間。馬利亞拿着一斤極貴的純哪噠香膏，抹耶穌的腳，又用自己頭髮去擦，屋裏充滿了膏的香氣。有一個門徒，就是那將要出賣耶穌的加略人猶大，說：「為甚麼不把這香膏賣三百個銀幣去賙濟窮人呢？」他說這話，並不是關心窮人，而是因為他是個賊，又管錢囊，常偷取錢囊中所存的。耶穌說：「由她吧！她這香膏本是為我的安葬之日留着的。因為常有窮人和你們在一起，但是你們不常有我。」

說：「阿們！頌讚、榮耀、智慧、感謝、尊貴、權能、力量都歸於我們的上帝，直到永永遠遠。阿們！」

聰明人面前有智慧；愚昧人眼望地的盡頭。

雖然我比眾聖徒中最小的還小，他還賜我這恩典，讓我把基督那測不透的豐富傳給外邦人，又使眾人都明白甚麼是歷代以來隱藏在創造萬物之上帝裏的奧祕，為要在現今藉着教會使天上執政的、掌權的知道上帝百般的智慧。
