Then Levi hosted a grand banquet for him at his house. Now there was a large crowd of tax collectors and others who were reclining at the table with them.But the Pharisees and their scribes were complaining to his disciples,“ Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”

One Sabbath, when he went in to eat at the house of one of the leading Pharisees, they were watching him closely.

While he was reclining at the table in the house, many tax collectors and sinners came to eat with Jesus and his disciples.When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples,“ Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

All who saw it began to complain,“ He’s gone to stay with a sinful man.”

( And when all the people, including the tax collectors, heard this, they acknowledged God’s way of righteousness, because they had been baptized with John’s baptism.

All the tax collectors and sinners were approaching to listen to him.And the Pharisees and scribes were complaining,“ This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”

The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say,‘ Look, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’Yet wisdom is vindicated by all her children.”Then one of the Pharisees invited him to eat with him. He entered the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table.

Yet to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God,because God’s foolishness is wiser than human wisdom, and God’s weakness is stronger than human strength.Brothers and sisters, consider your calling: Not many were wise from a human perspective, not many powerful, not many of noble birth.Instead, God has chosen what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen what is weak in the world to shame the strong.God has chosen what is insignificant and despised in the world— what is viewed as nothing— to bring to nothing what is viewed as something,so that no one may boast in his presence.

How magnificent are your works, LORD, how profound your thoughts!A stupid person does not know, a fool does not understand this:

and Jesus and his disciples were invited to the wedding as well.

Each one of us is to please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.

Their number was countless thousands, plus thousands of thousands.They said with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb who was slaughtered to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing!I heard every creature in heaven, on earth, under the earth, on the sea, and everything in them say, Blessing and honor and glory and power be to the one seated on the throne, and to the Lamb, forever and ever!The four living creatures said,“ Amen,” and the elders fell down and worshiped.

So they gave a dinner for him there; Martha was serving them, and Lazarus was one of those reclining at the table with him.Then Mary took a pound of perfume, pure and expensive nard, anointed Jesus’s feet, and wiped his feet with her hair. So the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.Then one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot( who was about to betray him), said,“ Why wasn’t this perfume sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?”He didn’t say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief. He was in charge of the money-bag and would steal part of what was put in it.Jesus answered,“ Leave her alone; she has kept it for the day of my burial.For you always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.”

saying, Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and strength be to our God forever and ever. Amen.

Wisdom is the focus of the perceptive, but a fool’s eyes roam to the ends of the earth.

This grace was given to me— the least of all the saints— to proclaim to the Gentiles the incalculable riches of Christ,and to shed light for all about the administration of the mystery hidden for ages in God who created all things.This is so that God’s multi-faceted wisdom may now be made known through the church to the rulers and authorities in the heavens.
