But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows,

「我要把這世代比做什麼呢？它就好比孩子們坐在街市上呼叫別的孩子，

斯世將何以喻之、譬童子坐於市、呼其侶、

斯世將何以比之、譬童子坐市井、呼其侶曰、

是世我何以譬之、譬諸童子坐於街市、呼其侶曰、

然今茲世代、吾將何以比之？譬諸童子坐於市井、而招其伴曰：

“ To what can I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others:

“ What can I compare today’s people to? They are like children sitting in the markets and calling out to others. They say,

“ But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling to their playmates,

“ To what can I compare this generation? It is like children playing a game in the public square. They complain to their friends,

“ To what should I compare this generation? It’s like children sitting in the marketplaces who call out to other children:

“ But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces, who call out to the other children,

“ But to what shall I liken this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling to their companions,

But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the marketplaces, who call unto their fellows

“ To what should I compare this generation? It’s like children sitting in the marketplaces who call out to each other:

And the Lord said, Whereunto then shall I liken the men of this generation? and to what are they like?They are like unto children sitting in the marketplace, and calling one to another, and saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned to you, and ye have not wept.For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil.The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!But wisdom is justified of all her children.

Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it?

Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

What thing shall I take to witness for thee? what thing shall I liken to thee, O daughter of Jerusalem? what shall I equal to thee, that I may comfort thee, O virgin daughter of Zion? for thy breach[ is] great like the sea: who can heal thee?

O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it?
