These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into[ any] city of the Samaritans enter ye not:

These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions:“ Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans.

Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.

Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.God[ is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship[ him] in spirit and in truth.

And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.

And he said unto me, Depart: for I will send thee far hence unto the Gentiles.And they gave him audience unto this word, and[ then] lifted up their voices, and said, Away with such a[ fellow] from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live.And as they cried out, and cast off[ their] clothes, and threw dust into the air,

And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.

Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.

Then said Jesus to them again, Peace[ be] unto you: as[ my] Father hath sent me, even so send I you.

And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.And the apostles and brethren that were in Judaea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.And when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision contended with him,Saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them.But Peter rehearsed[ the matter] from the beginning, and expounded[ it] by order unto them, saying,I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me:Upon the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.And I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat.But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth.But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed,[ that] call not thou common.And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven.And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Caesarea unto me.And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man’s house:And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter;Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as[ he did] unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.

Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises[ made] unto the fathers:And that the Gentiles might glorify God for[ his] mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name.

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

And the king of Assyria brought[ men] from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Ava, and from Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and placed[ them] in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel: and they possessed Samaria, and dwelt in the cities thereof.And[ so] it was at the beginning of their dwelling there,[ that] they feared not the LORD: therefore the LORD sent lions among them, which slew[ some] of them.Wherefore they spake to the king of Assyria, saying, The nations which thou hast removed, and placed in the cities of Samaria, know not the manner of the God of the land: therefore he hath sent lions among them, and, behold, they slay them, because they know not the manner of the God of the land.Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, Carry thither one of the priests whom ye brought from thence; and let them go and dwell there, and let him teach them the manner of the God of the land.Then one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and dwelt in Bethel, and taught them how they should fear the LORD.Howbeit every nation made gods of their own, and put[ them] in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities wherein they dwelt.And the men of Babylon made Succothbenoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima,And the Avites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burnt their children in fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim.So they feared the LORD, and made unto themselves of the lowest of them priests of the high places, which sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places.They feared the LORD, and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations whom they carried away from thence.Unto this day they do after the former manners: they fear not the LORD, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the LORD commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;With whom the LORD had made a covenant, and charged them, saying, Ye shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them:But the LORD, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and a stretched out arm, him shall ye fear, and him shall ye worship, and to him shall ye do sacrifice.And the statutes, and the ordinances, and the law, and the commandment, which he wrote for you, ye shall observe to do for evermore; and ye shall not fear other gods.And the covenant that I have made with you ye shall not forget; neither shall ye fear other gods.But the LORD your God ye shall fear; and he shall deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.Howbeit they did not hearken, but they did after their former manner.So these nations feared the LORD, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children’s children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day.

Then said the Jews among themselves, Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles?

But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion[ on him],

Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?

The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim,[ by] the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;

Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.

And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him.And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem.And when his disciples James and John saw[ this], they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?

After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.

And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.

And fell down on[ his] face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.

And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.

Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.

Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed[ with them]: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.And there was great joy in that city.But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:( For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)Then laid they[ their] hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and[ in] the bond of iniquity.Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.
