Sons don’t honor their fathers. Daughters refuse to obey their mothers. Daughters- in- law are against their mothers- in- law. A man’s enemies are the members of his own family.

Even my close friend, someone I trusted, has failed me. I even shared my bread with him.

When I appear, they make fun of me.All my close friends hate me. Those I love have turned against me.

Even your relatives have turned against you. They are members of your own family. They have shouted loudly at you. They might say nice things about you. But do not trust them.

But don’t harm him yourselves.” Reuben said that to save Joseph from them. He was hoping he could take him back to his father.When Joseph came to his brothers, he was wearing his beautiful robe. They took it away from him.And they threw him into the well. The well was empty. There wasn’t any water in it.Then they sat down to eat their meal. As they did, they saw some Ishmaelite traders coming from Gilead. Their camels were loaded with spices, lotion and myrrh. They were on their way to take them down to Egypt.Judah said to his brothers,“ What will we gain if we kill our brother and try to cover up what we’ve done?Come. Let’s sell him to these traders. Let’s not harm him ourselves. After all, he’s our brother. He’s our own flesh and blood.” Judah’s brothers agreed with him.The traders from Midian came by. Joseph’s brothers pulled him up out of the well. They sold him to the Ishmaelite traders for eight ounces of silver. Then the traders took him to Egypt.

David’s oldest brother Eliab heard him speaking with the men. So Eliab became very angry with him. Eliab asked David,“ Why have you come down here? Who is taking care of those few sheep in the desert for you? I know how proud you are. I know how evil your heart is. The only reason you came down here was to watch the battle.”

I hear many people whispering,“ There is terror on every side! Bring charges against Jeremiah! Let’s bring charges against him!” All my friends are waiting for me to slip. They are saying,“ Perhaps he will be tricked into making a mistake. Then we’ll win out over him. We’ll get even with him.”

I will make you and the woman hate each other. Your children and her children will be enemies. Her son will crush your head. And you will bite his heel.”

“ No,” said Peter.“ You will never wash my feet.” Jesus answered,“ Unless I wash you, you can’t share life with me.”
