When people attack you in one place, escape to another. What I’m about to tell you is true. You will not finish going through the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.

When they persecute you in one town, flee to the next, for truly, I say to you, you will not have gone through all the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.

They got up, drove him out of the town, and took him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw him off the cliff.But he walked right through the crowd and went on his way.Then he went down to Capernaum, a town in Galilee, and on the Sabbath he taught the people.

As soon as it was night, the believers sent Paul and Silas away to Berea. On arriving there, they went to the Jewish synagogue.

but Saul learned of their plan. Day and night they kept close watch on the city gates in order to kill him.But his followers took him by night and lowered him in a basket through an opening in the wall.

And Saul approved of their killing him. On that day a great persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria.

The believers immediately sent Paul to the coast, but Silas and Timothy stayed at Berea.

I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

Then some Jews came from Antioch and Iconium and won the crowd over. They stoned Paul and dragged him outside the city, thinking he was dead.But after the disciples had gathered around him, he got up and went back into the city. The next day he and Barnabas left for Derbe.

But suppose that servant is wicked and says to himself,‘ My master is staying away a long time,’

So from that day on they plotted to take his life.Therefore Jesus no longer moved about publicly among the people of Judea. Instead he withdrew to a region near the wilderness, to a village called Ephraim, where he stayed with his disciples.

But they found out about it and fled to the Lycaonian cities of Lystra and Derbe and to the surrounding country,where they continued to preach the gospel.

For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

“ Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.

Therefore I am sending you prophets and sages and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town.

When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he withdrew to Galilee.

But the Jewish leaders incited the God- fearing women of high standing and the leading men of the city. They stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their region.So they shook the dust off their feet as a warning to them and went to Iconium.

“ Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.

At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

Again they tried to seize him, but he escaped their grasp.Then Jesus went back across the Jordan to the place where John had been baptizing in the early days. There he stayed,and many people came to him. They said,“ Though John never performed a sign, all that John said about this man was true.”And in that place many believed in Jesus.

“ You have said so,” Jesus replied.“ But I say to all of you: From now on you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.”

But the Pharisees went out and plotted how they might kill Jesus.Aware of this, Jesus withdrew from that place. A large crowd followed him, and he healed all who were ill.

When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream.“ Get up,” he said,“ take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.”

After this, Jesus went around in Galilee. He did not want to go about in Judea because the Jewish leaders there were looking for a way to kill him.

“ At that time people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory.

When the uproar had ended, Paul sent for the disciples and, after encouraging them, said goodbye and set out for Macedonia.
