不要倚賴鄰舍；不要信靠密友。要守住你的口；不要向你懷中的妻提說。因為，兒子藐視父親；女兒抗拒母親；媳婦抗拒婆婆；人的仇敵就是自己家裏的人。

連你們的父母、弟兄、親族、朋友也要把你們交官；你們也有被他們害死的。你們要為我的名被眾人恨惡，

那時，必有許多人跌倒，也要彼此陷害，彼此恨惡；

弟兄要把弟兄，父親要把兒子，送到死地；兒女要起來與父母為敵，害死他們；並且你們要為我的名被眾人恨惡。惟有忍耐到底的，必然得救。」

你們以為我來，是叫地上太平嗎？我告訴你們，不是，乃是叫人紛爭。從今以後，一家五個人將要紛爭：三個人和兩個人相爭，兩個人和三個人相爭；父親和兒子相爭，兒子和父親相爭；母親和女兒相爭，女兒和母親相爭；婆婆和媳婦相爭，媳婦和婆婆相爭。」

若再有人說預言，生他的父母必對他說：『你不得存活，因為你託耶和華的名說假預言。』生他的父母在他說預言的時候，要將他刺透。

「你們不要想我來是叫地上太平；我來並不是叫地上太平，乃是叫地上動刀兵。因為我來是叫人與父親生疏，女兒與母親生疏，媳婦與婆婆生疏。人的仇敵就是自己家裏的人。

亞希多弗又對押沙龍說：「求你准我挑選一萬二千人，今夜我就起身追趕大衛，趁他疲乏手軟，我忽然追上他，使他驚惶；跟隨他的民必都逃跑，我就單殺王一人，使眾民都歸順你。你所尋找的人既然死了，眾民就如已經歸順你；這樣，也都平安無事了。」押沙龍和以色列的長老都以這話為美。

大衛又對亞比篩和眾臣僕說：「我親生的兒子尚且尋索我的性命，何況這便雅憫人呢？由他咒罵吧！因為這是耶和華吩咐他的。

我的密友都憎惡我；我平日所愛的人向我翻臉。
