and so were James and John, Zebedee’s sons, who were Simon’s business partners. Then Jesus said to Simon,“ Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching people.”

Philip went and told Andrew, and they both went and told Jesus.

One of Jesus’ disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him,

Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles.

He had James, the brother of John, executed with a sword.

Now when the hour came, Jesus took his place at the table and the apostles joined him.

Simon Peter answered,“ You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”And Jesus answered him,“ You are blessed, Simon son of Jonah, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but my Father in heaven!And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overpower it.

Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came to him with her sons, and kneeling down she asked him for a favor.

Jesus sent Peter and John, saying,“ Go and prepare the Passover for us to eat.”

So she went running to Simon Peter and the other disciple whom Jesus loved and told them,“ They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!”

This is the disciple who testifies about these things and has written these things, and we know that his testimony is true.

So while he was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked him privately,

What we have seen and heard we announce to you too, so that you may have fellowship with us( and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ).Thus we are writing these things so that our joy may be complete.

Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, partners in a heavenly calling, take note of Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess,

As he went along the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew, Simon’s brother, casting a net into the sea( for they were fishermen).Jesus said to them,“ Follow me, and I will turn you into fishers of people.”

Now as soon as they left the synagogue, they entered Simon and Andrew’s house, with James and John.

Peter turned around and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them.( This was the disciple who had leaned back against Jesus’ chest at the meal and asked,“ Lord, who is the one who is going to betray you?”)

Then they cast lots for them, and the one chosen was Matthias; so he was counted with the eleven apostles.

I, John, your brother and the one who shares with you in the persecution, kingdom, and endurance that are in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony about Jesus.

One of his disciples, the one Jesus loved, was at the table to the right of Jesus in a place of honor.

Six days later Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John the brother of James, and led them privately up a high mountain.

He appointed twelve: To Simon he gave the name Peter;to James and his brother John, the sons of Zebedee, he gave the name Boanerges( that is,“ sons of thunder”);and Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Zealot,and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.

From Simeon Peter, a slave and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ, have been granted a faith just as precious as ours.

Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time for prayer, at three o’clock in the afternoon.

He took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and became anguished and distressed.

Simon Peter, Thomas( called Didymus), Nathanael( who was from Cana in Galilee), the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples of his were together.

Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two disciples who heard what John said and followed Jesus.He first found his own brother Simon and told him,“ We have found the Messiah!”( which is translated Christ).Andrew brought Simon to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said,“ You are Simon, the son of John. You will be called Cephas”( which is translated Peter).

For this reason also the wisdom of God said,‘ I will send them prophets and apostles, some of whom they will kill and persecute,’

When the apostles returned, they told Jesus everything they had done. Then he took them with him and they withdrew privately to a town called Bethsaida.

It was he who gave some as apostles, some as prophets, some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers,

The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must happen very soon. He made it clear by sending his angel to his servant John,

I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things, and when I heard and saw them, I threw myself down to worship at the feet of the angel who was showing them to me.
