And the sons of Judah after their families were: of Shelah, the family of the Shelanites; of Perez, the family of the Perezites; of Zerah, the family of the Zerahites.And the sons of Perez were: of Hezron, the family of the Hezronites; of Hamul, the family of the Hamulites.

The sons of Judah: Perez, Hezron, and Carmi, and Hur, and Shobal.

Now these are the generations of Perez: Perez begat Hezron,and Hezron begat Ram, and Ram begat Amminadab,and Amminadab begat Nahshon, and Nahshon begat Salmon,and Salmon begat Boaz, and Boaz begat Obed,and Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David.

And it came to pass about three months after, that it was told Judah, saying, Tamar thy daughter- in- law hath played the harlot; and moreover, behold, she is with child by whoredom. And Judah said, Bring her forth, and let her be burnt.When she was brought forth, she sent to her father- in- law, saying, By the man, whose these are, am I with child: and she said, Discern, I pray thee, whose are these, the signet, and the cords, and the staff.And Judah acknowledged them, and said, She is more righteous than I, forasmuch as I gave her not to Shelah my son. And he knew her again no more.And it came to pass in the time of her travail, that, behold, twins were in her womb.

And of the sons of Zerah: Jeuel, and their brethren, six hundred and ninety.

Then said Judah to Tamar his daughter- in- law, Remain a widow in thy father’s house, till Shelah my son be grown up; for he said, Lest he also die, like his brethren. And Tamar went and dwelt in her father’s house.

And Judah took a wife for Er his first- born, and her name was Tamar.
