But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there, and being warned in a dream he withdrew to the district of Galilee.

And the angel of the Lord appeared to the woman and said to her,“ Behold, you are barren and have not borne children, but you shall conceive and bear a son.

When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.

How long will you waver, O faithless daughter? For the Lord has created a new thing on the earth: a woman encircles a man.”

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.

Good and upright is the Lord; therefore he instructs sinners in the way.He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way.

And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear.And the angel said to them,“ Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.”And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,“ Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”
