Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his descendant. Scripture does not say,“ and to the descendants,” referring to many, but“ and to your descendant,” referring to one, who is Christ.

“ I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star!”

concerning his Son who was a descendant of David with reference to the flesh,

The LORD made a reliable promise to David; he will not go back on his word. He said,“ I will place one of your descendants on your throne.

“ I, the LORD, promise that a new time will certainly come when I will raise up for them a righteous branch, a descendant of David. He will rule over them with wisdom and understanding and will do what is just and right in the land.

For a child has been born to us, a son has been given to us. He shoulders responsibility and is called: Extraordinary Strategist, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.His dominion will be vast and he will bring immeasurable prosperity. He will rule on David’s throne and over David’s kingdom, establishing it and strengthening it by promoting justice and fairness, from this time forward and forevermore. The LORD’s intense devotion to his people will accomplish this.

Don’t the scriptures say that the Christ is a descendant of David and comes from Bethlehem, the village where David lived?”

A shoot will grow out of Jesse’s root stock, a bud will sprout from his roots.

Listen: You will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus.He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David.

I will bless those who bless you, but the one who treats you lightly I must curse, and all the families of the earth will bless one another by your name.”

He was led away after an unjust trial– but who even cared? Indeed, he was cut off from the land of the living; because of the rebellion of his own people he was wounded.

and the LORD stood at its top. He said,“ I am the LORD, the God of your grandfather Abraham and the God of your father Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the ground you are lying on.Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west, east, north, and south. All the families of the earth will pronounce blessings on one another using your name and that of your descendants.

Now the birth of Jesus Christ happened this way. While his mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit.

To them belong the patriarchs, and from them, by human descent, came the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever! Amen.

As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, shouting,“ Have mercy on us, Son of David!”

So Jesus, when he began his ministry, was about thirty years old. He was the son( as was supposed) of Joseph, the son of Heli,the son of Matthat, the son of Levi, the son of Melchi, the son of Jannai, the son of Joseph,the son of Mattathias, the son of Amos, the son of Nahum, the son of Esli, the son of Naggai,the son of Maath, the son of Mattathias, the son of Semein, the son of Josech, the son of Joda,the son of Joanan, the son of Rhesa, the son of Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, the son of Neri,the son of Melchi, the son of Addi, the son of Cosam, the son of Elmadam, the son of Er,the son of Joshua, the son of Eliezer, the son of Jorim, the son of Matthat, the son of Levi,the son of Simeon, the son of Judah, the son of Joseph, the son of Jonam, the son of Eliakim,the son of Melea, the son of Menna, the son of Mattatha, the son of Nathan, the son of David,the son of Jesse, the son of Obed, the son of Boaz, the son of Sala, the son of Nahshon,the son of Amminadab, the son of Admin, the son of Arni, the son of Hezron, the son of Perez, the son of Judah,the son of Jacob, the son of Isaac, the son of Abraham, the son of Terah, the son of Nahor,the son of Serug, the son of Reu, the son of Peleg, the son of Eber, the son of Shelah,the son of Cainan, the son of Arphaxad, the son of Shem, the son of Noah, the son of Lamech,the son of Methuselah, the son of Enoch, the son of Jared, the son of Mahalalel, the son of Kenan,the son of Enosh, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God.

So then, because he was a prophet and knew that God had sworn to him with an oath to seat one of his descendants on his throne,

Stay in this land. Then I will be with you and will bless you, for I will give all these lands to you and to your descendants, and I will fulfill the solemn promise I made to your father Abraham.I will multiply your descendants so they will be as numerous as the stars in the sky, and I will give them all these lands. All the nations of the earth will pronounce blessings on one another using the name of your descendants.All this will come to pass because Abraham obeyed me and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.”

This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created– when the LORD God made the earth and heavens.

When the time comes for you to die, I will raise up your descendant, one of your own sons, to succeed you, and I will establish his kingdom.He will build a house for my name, and I will make his dynasty permanent.I will become his father and he will become my son. When he sins, I will correct him with the rod of men and with wounds inflicted by human beings.But my loyal love will not be removed from him as I removed it from Saul, whom I removed from before you.Your house and your kingdom will stand before me permanently; your dynasty will be permanent.’”

For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would inherit the world was not fulfilled through the law, but through the righteousness that comes by faith.

After Jesus was baptized, just as he was coming up out of the water, the heavens opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming on him.

A Canaanite woman from that area came and cried out,“ Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is horribly demon- possessed!”

In those days and at that time I will raise up for them a righteous descendant of David.“‘ He will do what is just and right in the land.Under his rule Judah will enjoy safety and Jerusalem will live in security. At that time Jerusalem will be called“ The LORD has provided us with justice.”For I, the LORD, promise:“ David will never lack a successor to occupy the throne over the nation of Israel.

For he has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David,as he spoke through the mouth of his holy prophets from long ago,

After removing him, God raised up David their king. He testified about him:‘ I have found David the son of Jesse to be a man after my heart, who will accomplish everything I want him to do.’From the descendants of this man God brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus, just as he promised.

“ What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he?” They said,“ The son of David.”He said to them,“ How then does David by the Spirit call him‘ Lord,’ saying,‘ The Lord said to my lord,“ Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet”’?If David then calls him‘ Lord,’ how can he be his son?”

“ In that day I will rebuild the collapsing hut of David. I will seal its gaps, repair its ruins, and restore it to what it was like in days gone by.

Just as surely as I have done this, so surely will I never reject the descendants of Jacob. Nor will I ever refuse to choose one of my servant David’s descendants to rule over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Indeed, I will restore them and show mercy to them.”

This is the record of the family line of Adam. When God created humankind, he made them in the likeness of God.

On that day the LORD himself will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the weakest among them will be like mighty David, and the dynasty of David will be like God, like the angel of the LORD before them.

His dynasty will last forever. His throne will endure before me, like the sun,

After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, in the time of King Herod, wise men from the East came to Jerusalemsaying,“ Where is the one who is born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”
