“ From the days of your fathers you have turned away from My statutes and have not kept them. Return to Me, and I will return to you,” says the Lord of armies.“ But you say,‘ How shall we return?’

萬軍之耶和華說：「從你們祖先的日子以來，你們就偏離我的律例而不遵守。現在你們當轉向我，我就轉向你們！你們竟然問：『我們怎樣轉向你呢？』

萬軍之耶和華曰、自爾列祖之日、爾偏離我律例、而不守之、當返於我、我則返於爾、爾乃曰於何而返乎、

萬有之主耶和華曰、自列祖以來、爾背我法度、不遵我道、然爾歸誠於我、而我必復加眷顧、爾曰、若何為之歸誠、

萬有之主曰、自爾列祖之日以來、爾棄我律例而不守之、今當歸誠於我、則我必復眷顧爾、則我必復眷顧爾原文作則我必歸於爾爾曰、如何方為歸誠、

Ever since the time of your ancestors you have turned away from my decrees and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you,” says the Lord Almighty.“ But you ask,‘ How are we to return?’

You have turned away from my rules. You have not obeyed them. You have lived that way ever since the days of your people of long ago. Return to me. Then I will return to you,” says the Lord who rules over all.“ But you ask,‘ How can we return?’

Ever since the days of your ancestors, you have scorned my decrees and failed to obey them. Now return to me, and I will return to you,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.“ But you ask,‘ How can we return when we have never gone away?’

“ Since the days of your ancestors, you have turned from my statutes; you have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you,” says the LORD of Armies. Yet you ask,“ How can we return?”

Yet from the days of your fathers You have gone away from My ordinances And have not kept them. Return to Me, and I will return to you,” Says the Lord of hosts.“ But you said,‘ In what way shall we return?’

From the days of your fathers ye have turned aside from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith Jehovah of hosts. But ye say, Wherein shall we return?

“ Since the days of your fathers, you have turned from My statutes; you have not kept them. Return to Me, and I will return to you,” says the Lord of Hosts. But you ask:“ How can we return?”

Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept[ them]. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?

From the days of your ancestors you have ignored my commandments and have not kept them! Return to me, and I will return to you,” says the LORD who rules over all.“ But you say,‘ How should we return?’

From the days of your fathers you have turned away from my ordinances, and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you,” says Yahweh of Armies.“ But you say,‘ How shall we return?’

Therefore say to them,‘ This is what the Lord of armies says:“ Return to Me,” declares the Lord of armies,“ that I may return to you,” says the Lord of armies.

For when I bring them into the land flowing with milk and honey, which I swore to their fathers, and they eat and are satisfied and become prosperous, then they will turn to other gods and serve them, and spurn Me and break My covenant.

But as for Israel, He says,“ I have spread out My hands all day long to a disobedient and obstinate people.”

‘ But if they confess their wrongdoing and the wrongdoing of their forefathers, in their unfaithfulness which they committed against Me, and also in their acting with hostility against Me—I also was acting with hostility against them, to bring them into the land of their enemies— or if their uncircumcised heart is humbled so that they then make amends for their wrongdoing,then I will remember My covenant with Jacob, and I will remember also My covenant with Isaac, and My covenant with Abraham as well, and I will remember the land.

Seek the Lord while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near.Let the wicked abandon his way, And the unrighteous person his thoughts; And let him return to the Lord, And He will have compassion on him, And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.

But as soon as they had rest, they did evil again before You; Therefore You abandoned them to the hand of their enemies, so that they ruled over them. When they cried out again to You, You heard from heaven, And many times You rescued them according to Your compassion,And admonished them in order to turn them back to Your Law. Yet they acted arrogantly and did not listen to Your commandments but sinned against Your ordinances, Which, if a person follows them, then he will live by them. And they turned a stubborn shoulder and stiffened their neck, and would not listen.However, You remained patient with them for many years, And admonished them by Your Spirit through Your prophets, Yet they would not listen. Therefore You handed them over to the peoples of the lands.

And he longed to have his fill of the carob pods that the pigs were eating, and no one was giving him anything.

Go and proclaim these words toward the north and say,‘ Return, faithless Israel,’ declares the Lord;‘ I will not look at you in anger. For I am gracious,’ declares the Lord;‘ I will not be angry forever.Only acknowledge your wrongdoing, That you have revolted against the Lord your God, And have scattered your favors to the strangers under every leafy tree, And you have not obeyed My voice,’ declares the Lord.‘ Return, you faithless sons,’ declares the Lord;‘ For I am a master to you, And I will take you, one from a city and two from a family, And bring you to Zion.’

Return, Israel, to the Lord your God, For you have stumbled because of your wrongdoing.

For not knowing about God’s righteousness and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.

Come close to God and He will come close to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double minded.

“ Return, you faithless sons, I will heal your faithlessness.”“ Behold, we come to You; For You are the Lord our God.

But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul.When you are in distress and all these things happen to you, in the latter days you will return to the Lord your God and listen to His voice.For the Lord your God is a compassionate God; He will not abandon you nor destroy you, nor forget the covenant with your fathers which He swore to them.

“ So it will be when all of these things have come upon you, the blessing and the curse which I have placed before you, and you call them to mind in all the nations where the Lord your God has scattered you,and you return to the Lord your God and obey Him with all your heart and soul in accordance with everything that I am commanding you today, you and your sons,then the Lord your God will restore you from captivity, and have compassion on you, and will gather you again from all the peoples where the Lord your God has scattered you.If any of your scattered countrymen are at the ends of the earth, from there the Lord your God will gather you, and from there He will bring you back.

I have spread out My hands all day long to a rebellious people, Who walk in the way which is not good, following their own thoughts,

“ But they, our fathers, acted arrogantly; They became stubborn and would not listen to Your commandments.They refused to listen, And did not remember Your wondrous deeds which You performed among them; So they became stubborn and appointed a leader to return to their slavery in Egypt. But You are a God of forgiveness, Gracious and compassionate, Slow to anger and abounding in mercy; And You did not abandon them.

Remember, do not forget how you provoked the Lord your God to anger in the wilderness; from the day that you left the land of Egypt until you arrived at this place, you have been rebellious against the Lord.Even at Horeb you provoked the Lord to anger, and the Lord was so angry with you that He would have destroyed you.When I went up to the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant which the Lord made with you, then I remained on the mountain for forty days and nights; I neither ate bread nor drank water.The Lord gave me the two tablets of stone written by the finger of God; and on them were all the words which the Lord had spoken with you at the mountain from the midst of the fire on the day of the assembly.It came about at the end of forty days and nights that the Lord gave me the two tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant.Then the Lord said to me,‘ Arise, go down from here quickly, because your people, whom you brought out of Egypt, have behaved corruptly. They have quickly turned aside from the way that I commanded them; they have made a cast metal image for themselves.’The Lord also said to me,‘ I have seen this people, and indeed, it is a stubborn people.Leave Me alone, that I may destroy them and wipe out their name from under heaven; and I will make of you a nation mightier and greater than they.’“ So I turned and came down from the mountain while the mountain was burning with fire, and the two tablets of the covenant were in my two hands.And I saw that you had indeed sinned against the Lord your God. You had made for yourselves a cast metal image of a calf; you had quickly turned aside from the way that the Lord had commanded you.So I took hold of the two tablets and threw them from my two hands, and smashed them to pieces before your eyes!Then I fell down before the Lord like the first time, for forty days and nights; I neither ate bread nor drank water, because of all your sin which you had committed by doing what was evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke Him to anger.For I was afraid of the anger and the rage with which the Lord was angry with you so as to destroy you; but the Lord listened to me that time as well.The Lord was also angry enough with Aaron to destroy him; so I also prayed for Aaron at the same time.And I took your sinful thing which you had made, the calf, and burned it in the fire and crushed it, grinding it thoroughly until it was as fine as dust; and I threw its dust into the stream that came down from the mountain.

“ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which on the outside appear beautiful, but inside they are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness.

“ Your words have been arrogant against Me,” says the Lord.“ Yet you say,‘ What have we spoken against You?’

But the house of Israel rebelled against Me in the wilderness. They did not walk in My statutes and they rejected My ordinances, which, if a person follows them, then he will live by them; and they greatly profaned My Sabbaths. Then I resolved to pour out My wrath on them in the wilderness, to annihilate them.

Remember, please, the word which You commanded Your servant Moses, saying,‘ If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the peoples;but if you return to Me and keep My commandments and do them, though those of you who have been scattered were in the most remote part of the heavens, I will gather them from there and bring them to the place where I have chosen to have My name dwell.’

if they take it to heart in the land where they have been taken captive, and repent and implore Your favor in the land of those who have taken them captive, saying,‘ We have sinned and done wrong, we have acted wickedly’;if they return to You with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their enemies who have taken them captive, and pray to You toward their land which You have given to their fathers, the city which You have chosen, and the house which I have built for Your name;then hear their prayer and their pleading in heaven, Your dwelling place, and maintain their cause,

When I had brought them into the land which I swore to give to them, then they saw every high hill and every tree thick with branches, and there they offered their sacrifices and there they presented the provocation of their offering. There also they made their soothing aroma and there they poured out their drink offerings.

“ ‘ A son honors his father, and a servant his master. Then if I am a father, where is My honor? And if I am a master, where is My respect?’ says the Lord of armies to you, the priests who despise My name! But you say,‘ How have we despised Your name?’

“ But they became rebellious and revolted against You, And threw Your Law behind their backs And killed Your prophets who had admonished them In order to bring them back to You, And they committed great blasphemies.

So you are witnesses and you approve of the deeds of your fathers; because it was they who killed them, and you build their tombs.For this reason also, the wisdom of God said,‘ I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill, and some they will persecute,so that the blood of all the prophets, shed since the foundation of the world, may be charged against this generation,from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who was killed between the altar and the house of God; yes, I tell you, it shall be charged against this generation.’

And not be like their fathers, A stubborn and rebellious generation, A generation that did not prepare its heart And whose spirit was not faithful to God.The sons of Ephraim were archers equipped with bows, Yet they turned back on the day of battle.They did not keep the covenant of God And refused to walk in His Law;

For I know your rebellion and your stubbornness; behold, as long as I have been alive with you until today, you have been rebellious against the Lord; how much more, then, after my death?Assemble to me all the elders of your tribes and your officers, that I may speak these words in their hearing and call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against them.For I know that after my death you will behave very corruptly and turn from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will confront you in the latter days, because you will do that which is evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking Him to anger with the work of your hands.”

But the children rebelled against Me; they did not walk in My statutes, nor were they careful to follow My ordinances which, if a person follows them, then he will live by them; they profaned My Sabbaths. So I resolved to pour out My wrath on them, to use up My anger against them in the wilderness.

But they rebelled against Me and were not willing to listen to Me; they did not throw away, each of them, the detestable things of their eyes, nor did they abandon the idols of Egypt.“ Then I resolved to pour out My wrath on them, to use up My anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.

“ Therefore I will judge you, house of Israel, each according to his conduct,” declares the Lord God.“ Repent and turn away from all your offenses, so that wrongdoing does not become a stumbling block to you.Hurl away from you all your offenses which you have committed and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! For why should you die, house of Israel?For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone who dies,” declares the Lord God.“ Therefore, repent and live!”

Yet they did not listen to Me or incline their ear, but stiffened their neck; they did more evil than their fathers.

“ You men who are stiff necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears are always resisting the Holy Spirit; you are doing just as your fathers did.Which one of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? They killed those who had previously announced the coming of the Righteous One, and you have now become betrayers and murderers of Him;

I was once alive apart from the Law; but when the commandment came, sin came to life, and I died;
