As for the man who does this, whoever he may be, may the Lord remove him from the tents of Jacob— even though he brings an offering to the Lord Almighty.

May the Lord punish the man who marries a woman like this. It doesn’t matter who that man is. May the Lord who rules over all remove him from the tents of Jacob’s people. May the Lord remove him even if he brings an offering to him.

He that killeth an ox is as he that slayeth a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as he that breaketh a dog’s neck; he that offereth an oblation, as he that offereth swine’s blood; he that burneth frankincense, as he that blesseth an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations:

For I, Jehovah, love justice, I hate robbery with iniquity; and I will give them their recompense in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.

Yea, though ye offer me your burnt- offerings and meal- offerings, I will not accept them; neither will I regard the peace- offerings of your fat beasts.

Therefore Jehovah will cut off from Israel head and tail, palm- branch and rush, in one day.The elder and the honorable man, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail.For they that lead this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.

But the soul that doeth aught with a high hand, whether he be home- born or a sojourner, the same blasphemeth Jehovah; and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.Because he hath despised the word of Jehovah, and hath broken his commandment, that soul shall utterly be cut off; his iniquity shall be upon him.

How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob, Thy tabernacles, O Israel!

And Samuel said, Hath Jehovah as great delight in burnt- offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of Jehovah? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as idolatry and teraphim. Because thou hast rejected the word of Jehovah, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

And among the sons of the priests there were found that had married foreign women: namely, of the sons of Jeshua, the son of Jozadak, and his brethren, Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah.And they gave their hand that they would put away their wives; and being guilty, they offered a ram of the flock for their guilt.

And therefore I have sworn unto the house of Eli, that the iniquity of Eli’s house shall not be expiated with sacrifice nor offering for ever.

And one of the sons of Joiada, the son of Eliashib the high priest, was son- in- law to Sanballat the Horonite: therefore I chased him from me.Remember them, O my God, because they have defiled the priesthood, and the covenant of the priesthood, and of the Levites.
