“ A son naturally honors his father and a slave respects his master. If I am your father, where is my honor? If I am your master, where is my respect? The LORD who rules over all asks you this, you priests who make light of my name! But you reply,‘ How have we made light of your name?’

万军之耶和华对你们说：“儿子孝敬父亲，仆人敬畏主人；我既为父亲，孝敬我的在哪里呢？我既为主人，敬畏我的在哪里呢？你们这些藐视我名的祭司啊！”你们却说：“我们在何事上藐视你的名呢？”

万军之耶和华对你们说：“儿子孝敬父亲，仆人敬畏主人；我既为父亲，孝敬我的在哪里呢？我既为主人，敬畏我的在哪里呢？你们这些藐视我名的祭司啊！”你们却说：“我们在何事上藐视你的名呢？”

万军之耶和华对祭司说：“儿子应当尊敬父亲，仆人应当敬畏主人。我是你们的父亲，但你们对我的尊敬在哪里呢？我是你们的主人，但你们对我的敬畏在哪里呢？你们藐视我的名，却狡辩说，‘我们在何事上藐视过你的名呢？’

万军之耶和华对你们说：“藐视我名的祭司啊！儿子尊敬父亲，仆人敬畏主人。我若是父亲，我该受的尊敬在哪里呢？我若是主人，我应得的敬畏在哪里呢？”你们却说：“我们怎样藐视了你的名呢？”

藐视我名的祭司们哪，万军之耶和华对你们说：“儿子尊敬父亲，仆人敬畏他的主人。我既是父亲，我当受的尊敬在哪里呢？我既是主人，我当受的敬畏在哪里呢？你们竟然问：‘我们是怎么藐视你名的呢？’

「藐視我名的祭司啊，萬軍之耶和華對你們說：兒子尊敬父親，僕人敬畏主人；我既為父親，尊敬我的在哪裏呢？我既為主人，敬畏我的在哪裏呢？你們卻說：『我們在何事上藐視你的名呢？』

萬軍之耶和華對祭司說：「兒子應當尊敬父親，僕人應當敬畏主人。我是你們的父親，但你們對我的尊敬在哪裡呢？我是你們的主人，但你們對我的敬畏在哪裡呢？你們藐視我的名，卻狡辯說，『我們在何事上藐視過你的名呢？』

萬軍之耶和華對你們說：“藐視我名的祭司啊！兒子尊敬父親，僕人敬畏主人。我若是父親，我該受的尊敬在哪裡呢？我若是主人，我應得的敬畏在哪裡呢？”你們卻說：“我們怎樣藐視了你的名呢？”

『藐視我名的祭司啊，萬軍之永恆主對你們說：兒子孝敬父親，奴僕敬畏主人。我既是做父親，我在哪裏得到孝敬呢？我既是做主人，我在哪裏得到敬畏呢？而你們竟說：「我們在甚麼事上藐視你的名呢？」

藐視我名的祭司們哪，萬軍之耶和華對你們說：「兒子尊敬父親，僕人敬畏他的主人。我既是父親，我當受的尊敬在哪裡呢？我既是主人，我當受的敬畏在哪裡呢？你們竟然問：『我們是怎麼藐視你名的呢？』

萬軍之耶和華曰、輕視我名之祭司歟、子尊其父、僕尊其主、我若為父、尊我者安在、我若為主、畏我者安在、爾曰、我於何事輕視爾名乎、

萬有之主耶和華、告侮慢之祭司曰、子敬父、僕敬主、我既為父、爾奚不敬、我既為主、爾奚不畏、乃爾曰、何嘗侮爾哉、

我萬有之主告爾褻慢我名之祭司曰、子敬父、奴敬主、我既為父、爾何不敬我、我既為主、爾何不畏我、我既為父爾何不敬我我既為主爾何不畏我或作我既為父爾敬我者安在我既為主爾畏我者安在乃爾曰、我於何處於何處或作何嘗褻慢主之名乎、

“ A son honors his father, and a slave his master. If I am a father, where is the honor due me? If I am a master, where is the respect due me?” says the Lord Almighty.“ It is you priests who show contempt for my name.“ But you ask,‘ How have we shown contempt for your name?’

“ A son honors his father. A slave honors his master. If I am a father, where is the honor I should have? If I am a master, where is the respect you should give me?” says the Lord who rules over all.“ You priests look down on me.“ But you ask,‘ How have we looked down on you?’

“ A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If then I am a father, where is my honor? And if I am a master, where is my fear? says the Lord of hosts to you, O priests, who despise my name. But you say,‘ How have we despised your name?’

The Lord of Heaven’s Armies says to the priests:“ A son honors his father, and a servant respects his master. If I am your father and master, where are the honor and respect I deserve? You have shown contempt for my name!“ But you ask,‘ How have we ever shown contempt for your name?’

“ A son honors his father, and a servant his master. But if I am a father, where is my honor? And if I am a master, where is your fear of me? says the LORD of Armies to you priests, who despise my name.” Yet you ask,“ How have we despised your name?”

“ ‘ A son honors his father, and a servant his master. Then if I am a father, where is My honor? And if I am a master, where is My respect?’ says the Lord of armies to you, the priests who despise My name! But you say,‘ How have we despised Your name?’

“ A son honors his father, And a servant his master. If then I am the Father, Where is My honor? And if I am a Master, Where is My reverence? Says the Lord of hosts To you priests who despise My name. Yet you say,‘ In what way have we despised Your name?’

A son honoreth his father, and a servant his master: if then I am a father, where is mine honor? and if I am a master, where is my fear? saith Jehovah of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name?

“ A son honors his father, and a servant his master. But if I am a father, where is My honor? And if I am a master, where is your fear of Me? says Yahweh of Hosts to you priests, who despise My name.” Yet you ask:“ How have we despised Your name?”

A son honoureth[ his] father, and a servant his master: if then I[ be] a father, where[ is] mine honour? and if I[ be] a master, where[ is] my fear? saith the LORD of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name?

“ A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If I am a father, then where is my honor? And if I am a master, where is the respect due me? Says Yahweh of Armies to you, priests, who despise my name. You say,‘ How have we despised your name?’

“ Why do you call me‘ Lord, Lord,’ and don’t do what I tell you?

“ Honor your father and your mother, that you may live a long time in the land the LORD your God is giving to you.

Honor all people, love the family of believers, fear God, honor the king.Slaves, be subject to your masters with all reverence, not only to those who are good and gentle, but also to those who are perverse.For this finds God’s favor, if because of conscience toward God someone endures hardships in suffering unjustly.

Listen, O heavens, pay attention, O earth! For the LORD speaks:“ I raised children, I brought them up, but they have rebelled against me!

You call me‘ Teacher’ and‘ Lord,’ and do so correctly, for that is what I am.If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you too ought to wash one another’s feet.For I have given you an example– you should do just as I have done for you.I tell you the solemn truth, the slave is not greater than his master, nor is the one who is sent as a messenger greater than the one who sent him.If you understand these things, you will be blessed if you do them.

And if you address as Father the one who impartially judges according to each one’s work, live out the time of your temporary residence here in reverence.

Ephraim boasts,“ I am very rich! I have become wealthy! In all that I have done to gain my wealth, no one can accuse me of any offense that is actually sinful.”

“ You have criticized me sharply,” says the LORD,“ but you ask,‘ How have we criticized you?’You have said,‘ It is useless to serve God. How have we been helped by keeping his requirements and going about like mourners before the LORD who rules over all?

Yet you ask,“ Why?” The LORD is testifying against you on behalf of the wife you married when you were young, to whom you have become unfaithful even though she is your companion and wife by law.No one who has even a small portion of the Spirit in him does this. What did our ancestor do when seeking a child from God? Be attentive, then, to your own spirit, for one should not be disloyal to the wife he took in his youth.“ I hate divorce,” says the LORD God of Israel,“ and the one who is guilty of violence,” says the LORD who rules over all.“ Pay attention to your conscience, and do not be unfaithful.”You have wearied the LORD with your words. But you say,“ How have we wearied him?” Because you say,“ Everyone who does evil is good in the Lord’s opinion, and he delights in them,” or“ Where is the God of justice?”

Yet, LORD, you are our father. We are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the product of your labor.

The eye that mocks at a father and despises obeying a mother– the ravens of the valley will peck it out and the young vultures will eat it.

“ Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment accompanied by a promise, namely,

You have destroyed my people by failing to acknowledge me! Because you refuse to acknowledge me, I will reject you as my priests. Because you reject the law of your God, I will reject your descendants.

For Moses said,‘ Honor your father and your mother,’ and,‘ Whoever insults his father or mother must be put to death.’

Slaves are to be subject to their own masters in everything, to do what is wanted and not talk back,not pilfering, but showing all good faith, in order to bring credit to the teaching of God our Savior in everything.

“ Not everyone who says to me,‘ Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of heaven– only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.

For God said,‘ Honor your father and mother’ and‘ Whoever insults his father or mother must be put to death.’

So pray this way: Our Father in heaven, may your name be honored,

Each of you must respect his mother and his father, and you must keep my Sabbaths. I am the LORD your God.

honor your father and mother, and love your neighbor as yourself.”

You know the commandments:‘ Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, do not defraud, honor your father and mother.’”

You, however, have turned from the way. You have caused many to violate the law; you have corrupted the covenant with Levi,” says the LORD who rules over all.

From the days of your ancestors you have ignored my commandments and have not kept them! Return to me, and I will return to you,” says the LORD who rules over all.“ But you say,‘ How should we return?’Can a person rob God? You indeed are robbing me, but you say,‘ How are we robbing you?’ In tithes and contributions!

They will come back shedding tears of contrition. I will bring them back praying prayers of repentance. I will lead them besides streams of water, along smooth paths where they will never stumble. I will do this because I am Israel’s father; Ephraim is my firstborn son.’”

Hear this, you priests! Pay attention, you Israelites! Listen closely, O king! For judgment is about to overtake you! For you were like a trap to Mizpah, like a net spread out to catch Tabor.

Her priests abuse my law and have desecrated my holy things. They do not distinguish between the holy and the profane, or recognize any distinction between the unclean and the clean. They ignore my Sabbaths and I am profaned in their midst.

There is a generation who curse their fathers and do not bless their mothers.

he does not need to honor his father.’ You have nullified the word of God on account of your tradition.

You know the commandments:‘ Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.’”

Honor your father and your mother just as the LORD your God has commanded you to do, so that your days may be extended and that it may go well with you in the land that he is about to give you.

You must say to Pharaoh,‘ Thus says the LORD,“ Israel is my son, my firstborn,and I said to you,‘ Let my son go that he may serve me,’ but since you have refused to let him go, I will surely kill your son, your firstborn!”’”

I planted you in the land like a special vine of the very best stock. Why in the world have you turned into something like a wild vine that produces rotten, foul-smelling grapes?You can try to wash away your guilt with a strong detergent. You can use as much soap as you want. But the stain of your guilt is still there for me to see,” says the Lord GOD.

Moreover, the LORD says,“ Both the prophets and priests are godless. I have even found them doing evil in my temple!

Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

“ Something horrible and shocking is going on in the land of Judah:The prophets prophesy lies. The priests exercise power by their own authority. And my people love to have it this way. But they will not be able to help you when the time of judgment comes!

Those who are under the yoke as slaves must regard their own masters as deserving of full respect. This will prevent the name of God and Christian teaching from being discredited.But those who have believing masters must not show them less respect because they are brothers. Instead they are to serve all the more, because those who benefit from their service are believers and dearly loved. Teach them and exhort them about these things.

I chose your ancestor from all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to offer sacrifice on my altar, to burn incense, and to bear the ephod before me. I gave to your ancestor’s house all the fire offerings made by the Israelites.Why are you scorning my sacrifice and my offering that I commanded for my dwelling place? You have honored your sons more than you have me by having made yourselves fat from the best parts of all the offerings of my people Israel.’Therefore the LORD, the God of Israel, says,‘ I really did say that your house and your ancestor’s house would serve me forever.’ But now the LORD says,‘ May it never be! For I will honor those who honor me, but those who despise me will be cursed!

But the expert, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus,“ And who is my neighbor?”

“ For if you forgive others their sins, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.But if you do not forgive others, your Father will not forgive you your sins.
