以东的溪流将变成柏油，它的尘土将变成硫磺，它的土地将成为燃烧着的柏油——昼夜总不熄灭，烟气永远上腾；那地世世代代荒凉，永永远远无人经过。鹈鹕和豪猪将占有那地，猫头鹰和乌鸦将居住其中；耶和华要把准绳和线砣拉在其上，使它变得空虚混沌。那里没有贵族来宣称王权，所有的首领也都归于无有。它的城堡将长出荆棘，堡垒长出灌木丛和蒺藜；它必成为豺狗的巢、鸵鸟的窝。旷野的走兽要与土狼相遇，野山羊要呼叫同伴，夜行动物要在那里栖身，为自己找到歇息之处。

旷野的走兽却会躺卧在那里，咆哮的野兽必占满他们的房屋，鸵鸟住在那里，野山羊在那里跳跃，土狼在城楼、豺狗在华美的宫殿嚎叫。巴比伦的那一刻临近了，它的时日必不延长！

雅各也与瑞秋同房，并且爱瑞秋胜过爱莉亚。他又服事了拉班另外七年。耶和华见莉亚被嫌弃，就使她能生育；瑞秋却不能生育。
