以利亞回答五十夫長說：「我若是神人，願火從天上降下來，吞滅你和你的五十個人！」於是有火從天上降下來，吞滅五十夫長和他的五十個人。王又派另一個五十夫長，帶領五十人到以利亞那裏。五十夫長對他說：「神人哪，王這樣吩咐，快快下來！」以利亞回答他們說：「我若是神人，願火從天上降下來，吞滅你和你的五十個人！」於是神的火從天上降下來，吞滅五十夫長和他的五十個人。王第三次又派一個五十夫長，帶領五十人去。第三個五十夫長上去，雙膝跪在以利亞面前，哀求他說：「神人哪，願我的性命和你這五十個僕人的性命在你眼中看為寶貴！看哪，已經有火從天上降下來，吞滅前兩次來的五十夫長和他們的五十個人，現在願我的性命在你眼中看為寶貴！」

你們心裏若懷着惡毒的嫉妒和自私，就不可自誇，不可說謊話抵擋真理。這樣的智慧不是從上頭下來的，而是屬地上的，屬情慾的，屬鬼魔的。在何處有嫉妒、自私，在何處就有動亂和各樣的壞事。惟獨從上頭來的智慧，先是清潔，後是和平、溫良、柔順，滿有憐憫和美善的果子，沒有偏私，沒有虛偽。正義的果實是為促進和平的人用和平栽種出來的。

我親愛的弟兄們，你們要明白：你們每一個人要快快地聽，慢慢地說，慢慢地動怒，因為人的怒氣並不能實現神的義。

主啊，現在求你鑒察，他們的威嚇，使你僕人放膽講你的道，伸出你的手來，讓醫治、神蹟、奇事藉着你聖僕耶穌的名行出來。」

我看見獸的七個頭中，有一個似乎受了致命傷，那傷卻醫好了。全地的人都很驚訝，跟從了那隻獸。

只是耶戶不盡心遵守耶和華－以色列神的律法，不離開耶羅波安使以色列人陷入罪裏的那罪。

大衛王召了基遍人來，跟他們說話。基遍人不是以色列人，而是亞摩利人中所剩下的人。以色列人曾向他們起誓，掃羅卻為以色列人和猶大人大發熱心，追殺他們，為了要消滅他們。

耶戶說：「你和我同去，看我為耶和華怎樣熱心。」於是他們請他坐在車上。
