以利亞說：「我若是上帝的僕人，願火從天降下燒死你和你的五十個部下。」火立刻從天降下，燒死了五十夫長和他的五十個部下。亞哈謝王又派一個五十夫長率領五十人去以利亞那裡，五十夫長對以利亞說：「上帝的僕人啊，王命令你馬上下來。」以利亞說：「我若是上帝的僕人，願火從天降下，燒死你和你的五十個部下。」上帝的火從天降下，燒死了五十夫長和他的五十個部下。王再次派一個五十夫長率領五十人前去。五十夫長上去，雙膝跪在以利亞面前，哀求道：「上帝的僕人啊，求你饒了我和你的五十名僕人的性命。前兩個五十夫長和他們的部下都被天上降下的火燒死了，現在求你饒我一命！」

但如果你們心懷苦毒的嫉妒和自私的野心，就不要自誇說有智慧，也不要違背真理去撒謊。這種智慧並非來自天上，而是從世俗、私慾和魔鬼來的。哪裡有嫉妒和自私的野心，哪裡就會有混亂和各樣的惡事。但從天上來的智慧首先是純潔，然後是愛好和平、溫良柔順、充滿憐憫、多結善果、不存偏見、沒有虛偽。使人和睦的人撒下和平的種子，必收穫仁義的果實。

我親愛的弟兄姊妹，請記住：每個人都要快快地聽，慢慢地說，慢慢地動怒。因為人的憤怒不能成就上帝的公義。

主啊，你看他們這樣恐嚇我們，求你幫助你的奴僕們坦然無懼地傳你的道。求你伸出手醫治疾病，藉著你聖子耶穌的名行神蹟奇事。」

我看見怪獸的一個頭似乎受了致命傷，這傷卻復原了。全世界的人都驚奇地跟從了牠。

但耶戶沒有全心全意地遵守以色列的上帝耶和華的律法，卻重蹈耶羅波安的覆轍，使以色列人陷入罪中。

原來基遍人不是以色列人，他們是亞摩利人的遺民。以色列人曾起誓不傷害他們，但掃羅為以色列人和猶大人發熱心，試圖剷除基遍人。大衛就召來基遍人，

說：「跟我來，看我怎樣熱心為耶和華工作。」於是耶戶讓他坐在車上。
