The time grew near for Jesus to be taken up to heaven. So he made up his mind to go to Jerusalem.

As the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem.

When the days drew near for him to be taken up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem.

As the time drew near for him to ascend to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem.

When the days were coming to a close for him to be taken up, he determined to journey to Jerusalem.

When the days were approaching for His ascension, He was determined to go to Jerusalem;

Now it came to pass, when the time had come for Him to be received up, that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem,

And it came to pass, when the days were well- nigh come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem,

When the days were coming to a close for Him to be taken up, He determined to journey to Jerusalem.

And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem,

Now when the days drew near for him to be taken up, Jesus set out resolutely to go to Jerusalem.

When the Lord Jesus finished speaking to them, he was taken up into heaven. He sat down at the right hand of God.

Jesus took the 12 disciples to one side. He told them,“ We are going up to Jerusalem. Everything that the prophets wrote about the Son of Man will come true.

The Lord and King has unplugged my ears. I’ve always obeyed him. I haven’t turned away from him.I let my enemies beat me on my bare back. I let them pull the hair out of my beard. I didn’t turn my face away when they made fun of me and spit on me.The Lord and King helps me. He won’t let me be dishonored. So I’ve made up my mind to keep on serving him. I know he won’t let me be put to shame.He is near. He will prove I haven’t done anything wrong. So who will bring charges against me? Let’s face each other in court! Who can bring charges against me? Let him come and face me!The Lord and King helps me. So who will judge me? My enemies will be like clothes that moths have eaten up. My enemies will disappear.

Then Jesus went through the towns and villages, teaching the people. He was on his way to Jerusalem.

Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. He traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee.

After Jesus had said this, he went on ahead. He was going up to Jerusalem.

That is where Jesus has gone. He went there to open the way ahead of us. He has become a high priest forever, just like Melchizedek.

But I have a baptism of suffering to go through. And I must go through it.

While the people were listening to these things, Jesus told them a story. He was near Jerusalem. The people thought that God’s kingdom was going to appear right away.

Elijah and Elisha were on their way from Gilgal. The Lord was going to use a strong wind to take Elijah up to heaven.Elijah said to Elisha,“ Stay here. The Lord has sent me to Bethel.” But Elisha said,“ I won’t leave you. And that’s just as sure as the Lord and you are alive.” So they went down to Bethel.There was a group of prophets at Bethel. They came out to where Elisha was. They asked him,“ Do you know what the Lord is going to do? He’s going to take your master away from you today.”“ Yes, I know,” Elisha replied.“ So be quiet.”

Let us keep looking to Jesus. He is the one who started this journey of faith. And he is the one who completes the journey of faith. He paid no attention to the shame of the cross. He suffered there because of the joy he was looking forward to. Then he sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

After Jesus said this, he was taken up to heaven. The apostles watched until a cloud hid him from their sight.

“ Now I am going to Jerusalem. The Holy Spirit compels me. I don’t know what will happen to me there.I only know that in every city the Spirit warns me. He tells me that I will face prison and suffering.But my life means nothing to me. My only goal is to finish the race. I want to complete the work the Lord Jesus has given me. He wants me to tell others about the good news of God’s grace.

until the day he was taken up to heaven. Before Jesus left, he gave orders to the apostles he had chosen. He did this through the Holy Spirit.

There is no doubt that true godliness comes from this great mystery. Jesus came as a human being. The Holy Spirit proved that he was the Son of God. He was seen by angels. He was preached among the nations. People in the world believed in him. He was taken up to heaven in glory.

He came over to us. Then he took Paul’s belt and tied his own hands and feet with it. He said,“ The Holy Spirit says,‘ This is how the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem will tie up the owner of this belt. They will hand him over to the Gentiles.’ ”When we heard this, we all begged Paul not to go up to Jerusalem.He asked,“ Why are you crying? Why are you breaking my heart? I’m ready to be put in prison. In fact, I’m ready to die in Jerusalem for the Lord Jesus.”We couldn’t change his mind. So we gave up. We said,“ May what the Lord wants to happen be done.”

It was just before the Passover Feast. Jesus knew that the time had come for him to leave this world. It was time for him to go to the Father. Jesus loved his disciples who were in the world. So he now loved them to the very end.

While he was blessing them, he left them. He was taken up into heaven.

He has gone into heaven. He is at God’s right hand. Angels, authorities and powers are under his control.Christ suffered in his body. So prepare yourselves to think in the same way Christ did. Do this because whoever suffers in their body is finished with sin.

They kept walking along and talking together. Suddenly there appeared a chariot and horses made of fire. The chariot and horses came between the two men. Then Elijah went up to heaven in a strong wind.

I came from the Father and entered the world. Now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.”

God showed. He showed this when he raised Christ from the dead. God seated him at his right hand in his heavenly kingdom.

I will not remain in the world any longer. But they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them safe by the power of your name. It is the name you gave me. Keep them safe so they can be one, just as you and I are one.

That is why Scripture says,“ When he went up to his place on high, he took many prisoners. He gave gifts to his people.”( Psalm 68:18)What does“ he went up” mean? It can only mean that he also came down to the lower, earthly places.The one who came down is the same one who went up. He went up higher than all the heavens. He did it in order to fill all creation.So Christ himself gave the gift of the apostles to the church. He gave the prophets and those who preach the good news. And he also gave the pastors and teachers as a gift to the church.

But now I am going to the one who sent me. None of you asks me,‘ Where are you going?’

Then what if you see the Son of Man go up to where he was before?

I push myself forward toward the goal to win the prize. God has appointed me to win it. The heavenly prize is Christ Jesus himself.
