After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him. He led them up a high mountain. They were all alone. There in front of them his appearance was changed.His clothes became so white they shone. They were whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them.

Moses came down from Mount Sinai. He had the two tablets of the covenant law in his hands. His face was shining because he had spoken with the Lord. Then he would tell the people what the Lord had commanded.They would see that his face was shining. So Moses would cover his face with the veil again. He would keep it on until he went in again to speak with the Lord.

People of Judah, you will see the king in all his glory and majesty. You will view his kingdom spreading far and wide.

All who were sitting in the Sanhedrin looked right at Stephen. They saw that his face was like the face of an angel.

In the middle of them was someone who looked“ like a son of man.”( Daniel 7:13) He was dressed in a long robe with a gold strip of cloth around his chest.The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow. His eyes were like a blazing fire.His feet were like bronze metal glowing in a furnace. His voice sounded like rushing waters.He held seven stars in his right hand. Coming out of his mouth was a sharp sword with two edges. His face was like the sun shining in all its brightness.

His servant grew up like a tender young plant. He grew like a root coming up out of dry ground. He didn’t have any beauty or majesty that made us notice him. There wasn’t anything special about the way he looked that drew us to him.

After that, Jesus appeared in a different form to two of them. This happened while they were walking out in the country.

We told you about the time our Lord Jesus Christ came with power. But we didn’t make up clever stories when we told you about it. With our own eyes we saw him in all his majesty.God the Father gave him honor and glory. The voice of the Majestic Glory came to him. It said,“ This is my Son, and I love him. I am very pleased with him.”( Matthew 17:5; Mark 9:7; Luke 9:35)We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven. We were with him on the sacred mountain.

The Word became a human being. He made his home with us. We have seen his glory. It is the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father. And the Word was full of grace and truth.

I saw a great white throne. And I saw God sitting on it. When the earth and sky saw his face, they ran away. There was no place for them.

I thought things like that were really something great. But now I consider them to be nothing because of Christ.Even more, I consider everything to be nothing compared to knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. To know him is worth much more than anything else. Because of him I have lost everything. But I consider all of it to be garbage so I can know Christ better.
