saying,“ The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed and be raised on the third day.”

And he said,“ The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.”

He said,“ The Son of Man must suffer many things. The elders will not accept him. The chief priests and the teachers of the law will not accept him either. He must be killed and on the third day rise from the dead.”

“ The Son of Man must suffer many terrible things,” he said.“ He will be rejected by the elders, the leading priests, and the teachers of religious law. He will be killed, but on the third day he will be raised from the dead.”

Now He took the twelve aside and said to them,“ Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all the things that have been written through the prophets about the Son of Man will be accomplished.For He will be handed over to the Gentiles, and will be ridiculed, and abused, and spit upon,and after they have flogged Him, they will kill Him; and on the third day He will rise.”The disciples understood none of these things, and the meaning of this statement was hidden from them, and they did not comprehend the things that were said.

saying that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise from the dead.”

And He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise from the dead.And He was stating the matter plainly. And Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him.But turning around and seeing His disciples, He rebuked Peter and* said,“ Get behind Me, Satan; for you are not setting your mind on God’s purposes, but on man’s.”And He summoned the crowd together with His disciples, and said to them,“ If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me.For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.For what does it benefit a person to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?For what could a person give in exchange for his soul?For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”And Jesus was saying to them,“ Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God when it has come with power.”

Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?For He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, And like a root out of dry ground; He has no stately form or majesty That we would look at Him, Nor an appearance that we would take pleasure in Him.He was despised and abandoned by men, A man of great pain and familiar with sickness; And like one from whom people hide their faces, He was despised, and we had no regard for Him.However, it was our sicknesses that He Himself bore, And our pains that He carried; Yet we ourselves assumed that He had been afflicted, Struck down by God, and humiliated.But He was pierced for our offenses, He was crushed for our wrongdoings; The punishment for our well being was laid upon Him, And by His wounds we are healed.All of us, like sheep, have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the Lord has caused the wrongdoing of us all To fall on Him.He was oppressed and afflicted, Yet He did not open His mouth; Like a lamb that is led to slaughter, And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, So He did not open His mouth.By oppression and judgment He was taken away; And as for His generation, who considered That He was cut off from the land of the living For the wrongdoing of my people, to whom the blow was due?And His grave was assigned with wicked men, Yet He was with a rich man in His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was there any deceit in His mouth.But the Lord desired To crush Him, causing Him grief; If He renders Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, And the good pleasure of the Lord will prosper in His hand.As a result of the anguish of His soul, He will see it and be satisfied; By His knowledge the Righteous One, My Servant, will justify the many, For He will bear their wrongdoings.Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great, And He will divide the plunder with the strong, Because He poured out His life unto death, And was counted with wrongdoers; Yet He Himself bore the sin of many, And interceded for the wrongdoers.

From that time Jesus began to point out to His disciples that it was necessary for Him to go to Jerusalem and to suffer many things from the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and to be killed, and to be raised up on the third day.And yet Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying,“ God forbid it, Lord! This shall never happen to You!”But He turned and said to Peter,“ Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; for you are not setting your mind on God’s purposes, but men’s.”Then Jesus said to His disciples,“ If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me.For whoever wants to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.For what good will it do a person if he gains the whole world, but forfeits his soul? Or what will a person give in exchange for his soul?For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and will then repay every person according to his deeds.“ Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.”

For He was teaching His disciples and telling them,“ The Son of Man is to be handed over to men, and they will kill Him; and when He has been killed, He will rise three days later.”

And I will make enemies Of you and the woman, And of your offspring and her Descendant; He shall bruise you on the head, And you shall bruise Him on the heel.”

saying,“ Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death and will hand Him over to the Gentiles.And they will mock Him and spit on Him, and flog Him and kill Him; and three days later He will rise from the dead.”

but I say to you that Elijah already came, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they wanted. So also the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands.”

seeking to know what person or time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating as He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow.

My God, my God, why have You forsaken me? Far from my help are the words of my groaning.My God, I cry out by day, but You do not answer; And by night, but I have no rest.Yet You are holy, You who are enthroned upon the praises of Israel.In You our fathers trusted; They trusted and You rescued them.To You they cried out and they fled to safety; In You they trusted and were not disappointed.But I am a worm and not a person, A disgrace of mankind and despised by the people.All who see me deride me; They sneer, they shake their heads, saying,“ Turn him over to the Lord; let Him save him; Let Him rescue him, because He delights in him.”Yet You are He who brought me forth from the womb; You made me trust when upon my mother’s breasts.I was cast upon You from birth; You have been my God from my mother’s womb.Do not be far from me, for trouble is near; For there is no one to help.Many bulls have surrounded me; Strong bulls of Bashan have encircled me.They open their mouths wide at me, As a ravening and roaring lion.I am poured out like water, And all my bones are out of joint; My heart is like wax; It is melted within me.My strength is dried up like a piece of pottery, And my tongue clings to my jaws; And You lay me in the dust of death.For dogs have surrounded me; A band of evildoers has encompassed me; They pierced my hands and my feet.I can count all my bones. They look, they stare at me;They divide my garments among them, And they cast lots for my clothing.But You, Lord, do not be far away; You who are my help, hurry to my assistance.Save my soul from the sword, My only life from the power of the dog.Save me from the lion’s mouth; From the horns of the wild oxen You answer me.I will proclaim Your name to my brothers; In the midst of the assembly I will praise You.You who fear the Lord, praise Him; All you descendants of Jacob, glorify Him, And stand in awe of Him, all you descendants of Israel.For He has not despised nor scorned the suffering of the afflicted; Nor has He hidden His face from him; But when he cried to Him for help, He heard.From You comes my praise in the great assembly; I shall pay my vows before those who fear Him.The afflicted will eat and be satisfied; Those who seek Him will praise the Lord. May your heart live forever!All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord, And all the families of the nations will worship before You.For the kingdom is the Lord’s And He rules over the nations.All the prosperous of the earth will eat and worship, All those who go down to the dust will kneel before Him, Even he who cannot keep his soul alive.A posterity will serve Him; It will be told of the Lord to the coming generation.They will come and will declare His righteousness To a people who will be born, that He has performed it.

“ Awake, sword, against My Shepherd, And against the Man, My Associate,” Declares the Lord of armies.“ Strike the Shepherd and the sheep will be scattered; And I will turn My hand against the little ones.

and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

Save me, God, For the waters have threatened my life.I have sunk in deep mud, and there is no foothold; I have come into deep waters, and a flood overflows me.I am weary with my crying; my throat is parched; My eyes fail while I wait for my God.Those who hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head; Those who would destroy me are powerful, those who oppose me with lies; What I did not steal, I then have to restore.God, You know my foolishness, And my guilt is not hidden from You.May those who wait for You not be ashamed because of me, Lord God of armies; May those who seek You not be dishonored because of me, God of Israel,Because for Your sake I have endured disgrace; Dishonor has covered my face.I have become estranged from my brothers, And a stranger to my mother’s sons.For zeal for Your house has consumed me, And the taunts of those who taunt You have fallen on me.When I wept in my soul with fasting, It became my disgrace.When I made sackcloth my clothing, I became a proverb to them.Those who sit in the gate talk about me, And songs of mockery by those habitually drunk are about me.But as for me, my prayer is to You, Lord, at an acceptable time; God, in the greatness of Your mercy, Answer me with Your saving truth.Rescue me from the mud and do not let me sink; May I be rescued from those who hate me, and from the depths of water.May the flood of water not overflow me Nor the deep swallow me up, Nor the pit close its mouth on me.Answer me, Lord, for Your mercy is good; According to the greatness of Your compassion, turn to me,And do not hide Your face from Your servant, For I am in distress; answer me quickly.Come near to my soul and redeem it; Ransom me because of my enemies!You know my disgrace, my shame, and my dishonor; All my enemies are known to You.Disgrace has broken my heart, and I am so sick. And I waited for sympathy, but there was none; And for comforters, but I found none.They also gave me a bitter herb in my food, And for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.May their table before them become a snare; And when they are at peace, may it become a trap.May their eyes grow dim so that they cannot see, And make their hips shake continually.Pour out Your indignation on them, And may Your burning anger overtake them.May their camp be desolated; May there be none living in their tents.For they have persecuted him whom You Yourself struck, And they tell of the pain of those whom You have wounded.Add guilt to their guilt, And may they not come into Your righteousness.May they be wiped out of the book of life, And may they not be recorded with the righteous.But I am afflicted and in pain; May Your salvation, God, set me safely on high.I will praise the name of God with song, And exalt Him with thanksgiving.And it will please the Lord better than an ox Or bull with horns and hoofs.The humble have seen it and are glad; You who seek God, let your heart revive.For the Lord hears the needy, And does not despise those of His who are prisoners.Heaven and earth shall praise Him, The seas and everything that moves in them.For God will save Zion and build the cities of Judah, So that they may live there and possess it.The descendants of His servants will inherit it, And those who love His name will live in it.

Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer these things and to come into His glory?”

Then after the sixty two weeks, the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing, and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. And its end will come with a flood; even to the end there will be war; desolations are determined.

For those who live in Jerusalem, and their rulers, recognizing neither Him nor the declarations of the prophets which are read every Sabbath, fulfilled these by condemning Him.And though they found no grounds for putting Him to death, they asked Pilate that He be executed.When they had carried out everything that was written concerning Him, they took Him down from the cross and laid Him in a tomb.

“ As for you, let these words sink into your ears: for the Son of Man is going to be handed over to men.”

And while they were gathering together in Galilee, Jesus said to them,“ The Son of Man is going to be handed over to men;

who by the Holy Spirit, through the mouth of our father David Your servant, said,‘ Why were the nations insolent, And the peoples plotting in vain?The kings of the earth took their stand, And the rulers were gathered together Against the Lord and against His Christ.’For truly in this city there were gathered together against Your holy servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel,to do whatever Your hand and purpose predestined to occur.
