And he said,“ The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.”

耶穌集十二門徒、而告之曰：『爾其識之！吾儕上耶路撒冷、凡先知所紀當臨於人子之事、悉將見驗。渠將被付於外邦人、受垢被辱、受唾被撻、乃至受死、惟第三日復活。』門徒弗悟、蓋當時厥心、猶有所蒙故但聞其言、而不識其蘊也。

不言人子須陷於罪人之手、被釘十字架、至第三日而復活乎？』

嗣謂人子須歷諸苦、為長老司祭長經生所絕、終必被害、第三日復活。耶穌作此啟示、伯鐸祿挽而諫之。耶穌顧視門徒、謂伯鐸祿曰：『沙殫退去！爾不體主旨、惟體人意。』更謂眾及門徒曰：『人欲從予、必先舍己、負其十字架而隨我後。欲救其生者、將喪其生；為予及福音而舍其生者、終必獲生。人雖富有天下、苟失其生、亦有何益？且更將以何物易其生乎？處此淫邪之世、而以吾及吾道為恥者、人子佩聖父榮光、偕聖天神降臨之日、亦必以其人為可恥也。』又謂眾曰：『我實告爾、現立斯中者、必有未嘗死味以前、獲睹天主之國乘權而來者焉。』

自是耶穌始預示其徒、彼須往耶路撒冷、將陷於長老、經生、司祭之手、備受凌辱、乃至被殺；第三日復活。伯鐸祿挽而諫之曰：『主、萬無此理、願此事之莫臨爾身也。』耶穌顧謂伯鐸祿曰：『沙殫退去！汝為我梗。汝但體人情、不體天意。』乃諭諸徒曰：『人欲從予、必須克己、負其十字架、而追隨予後。凡惜其生者、失之；惟為予而捨其生者、得之；夫人雖富有天下、而自喪其靈。何益之有？更將何以贖其靈乎？人子必當於厥父光榮之中、率眾天神以臨、按人之行、施人以報。吾實語爾、現立於斯者、必有未死之前、獲睹人子乘權而降焉。』

誨其徒而告之曰：『人子將被付於人之手、見殺後、三日復起。』

『茲吾曹上耶路撒冷、人子將被付于經生長老司祭長。若輩將擬之于死付諸異邦人、侮而唾之、鞭而殺之；第三日復活。』

第予語爾、依理藹實已蒞臨、而人莫之識、且任意處之。人子之將罹橫逆、亦復如是。』

蓋基督神靈、啟迪先知之衷、故彼等能逆知基督之先苦後樂、與夫其事之成於何時何世。

死而乃瘞、第三日自死者中復活、亦一如古經之所預言也。

基督不當先受苦難、而躋於光榮乎？』

而耶路撒冷居民及其教長不識基督、每禮日所誦先知書訓、亦未領悟；遽定基督之罪、恰應先知之豫言、雖明知其無可死之由、而竟求比辣多處之以死。迨豫指耶穌之言、悉見應驗、乃自木取下、葬之墓塋、

『爾等其將此言深貯耳中！人子行將被付於人手矣！』

人且殺之、惟第三日復活。』諸徒為之憾然。

復以聖神假爾僕大維之口而言曰：「何列國之擾攘兮何萬民之猖狂。世酋蠭起兮、跋扈飛揚。意圖背叛天主兮、反抗受命之王。」今希祿與般雀‧比辣多果率異邦及義塞之人民、群集於城、反抗爾之聖子耶穌即爾所膏沐、以奉行爾所手訂之聖謨者也。
