耶穌和他的門徒們往凱撒里亞菲利彼的那些村莊去。在路上，耶穌問他的門徒們，說：「人們說我是誰？」他們回答他，說：「是施洗者約翰，有的說是以利亞，也有的說是先知中的一位。」耶穌又問他們：「那麼你們呢？你們說我是誰？」彼得回答說：「你是基督！」耶穌就告誡他們不要把有關他的事告訴任何人。
