Late in the afternoon the Twelve came to him and said,“ Send the crowd away so they can go to the surrounding villages and countryside and find food and lodging, because we are in a remote place here.”

Late in the afternoon the 12 disciples came to him. They said,“ Send the crowd away. They can go to the nearby villages and countryside. There they can find food and a place to stay. There is nothing here.”

Now the day began to wear away, and the twelve came and said to him,“ Send the crowd away to go into the surrounding villages and countryside to find lodging and get provisions, for we are here in a desolate place.”

Late in the afternoon the twelve disciples came to him and said,“ Send the crowds away to the nearby villages and farms, so they can find food and lodging for the night. There is nothing to eat here in this remote place.”

Late in the day, the Twelve approached and said to him,“ Send the crowd away, so that they can go into the surrounding villages and countryside to find food and lodging, because we are in a deserted place here.”

Now the day was ending, and the twelve came up and said to Him,“ Dismiss the crowd, so that they may go into the surrounding villages and countryside and find lodging and get something to eat; because here, we are in a secluded place.”

When the day began to wear away, the twelve came and said to Him,“ Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding towns and country, and lodge and get provisions; for we are in a deserted place here.”

Late in the day, the Twelve approached and said to Him,“ Send the crowd away, so they can go into the surrounding villages and countryside to find food and lodging, because we are in a deserted place here.”

And when the day began to wear away, then came the twelve, and said unto him, Send the multitude away, that they may go into the towns and country round about, and lodge, and get victuals: for we are here in a desert place.

Now the day began to draw to a close, so the twelve came and said to Jesus,“ Send the crowd away, so they can go into the surrounding villages and countryside and find lodging and food, because we are in an isolated place.”

The day began to wear away; and the twelve came and said to him,“ Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding villages and farms, and lodge, and get food, for we are here in a deserted place.”

But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

Yea, they spake against God; They said, Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?Behold, he smote the rock, so that waters gushed out, And streams overflowed; Can he give bread also? Will he provide flesh for his people?

And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came unto him, and said, The place is desert, and the day is now far spent;send them away, that they may go into the country and villages round about, and buy themselves somewhat to eat.But he answered and said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred shillings’ worth of bread, and give them to eat?And he saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? go and see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes.And he commanded them that all should sit down by companies upon the green grass.And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties.And he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake the loaves; and he gave to the disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all.And they all ate, and were filled.And they took up broken pieces, twelve basketfuls, and also of the fishes.And they that ate the loaves were five thousand men.

And when even was come, the disciples came to him, saying, The place is desert, and the time is already past; send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves food.But Jesus said unto them, They have no need to go away; give ye them to eat.And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.And he said, Bring them hither to me.And he commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass; and he took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake and gave the loaves to the disciples, and the disciples to the multitudes.And they all ate, and were filled: and they took up that which remained over of the broken pieces, twelve baskets full.And they that did eat were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

And Jesus called unto him his disciples, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days and have nothing to eat: and I would not send them away fasting, lest haply they faint on the way.

Jesus therefore lifting up his eyes, and seeing that a great multitude cometh unto him, saith unto Philip, Whence are we to buy bread, that these may eat?And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.Philip answered him, Two hundred shillings’ worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one may take a little.One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, saith unto him,There is a lad here, who hath five barley loaves, and two fishes: but what are these among so many?Jesus said, Make the people sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.Jesus therefore took the loaves; and having given thanks, he distributed to them that were set down; likewise also of the fishes as much as they would.And when they were filled, he saith unto his disciples, Gather up the broken pieces which remain over, that nothing be lost.So they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with broken pieces from the five barley loaves, which remained over unto them that had eaten.When therefore the people saw the sign which he did, they said, This is of a truth the prophet that cometh into the world.Jesus therefore perceiving that they were about to come and take him by force, to make him king, withdrew again into the mountain himself alone.

After these things Jesus went away to the other side of the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias.

I did know thee in the wilderness, in the land of great drought.

And I will make with them a covenant of peace, and will cause evil beasts to cease out of the land; and they shall dwell securely in the wilderness, and sleep in the woods.
