眾人哭女甚哀；耶穌曰：『勿哭！女實未死、寢耳。』

Meanwhile, all the people were wailing and mourning for her.“ Stop wailing,” Jesus said.“ She is not dead but asleep.”

During this time, all the people were crying and sobbing loudly over the child.“ Stop crying!” Jesus said.“ She is not dead. She is sleeping.”

And all were weeping and mourning for her, but he said,“ Do not weep, for she is not dead but sleeping.”

The house was filled with people weeping and wailing, but he said,“ Stop the weeping! She isn’t dead; she’s only asleep.”

有一大群人跟在耶稣后面，其中有不少妇女为耶稣伤心痛哭。

耶稣听见后，说：“这病不会致命，而是为了上帝的荣耀，使祂的儿子借此得到荣耀。”

以扫听了放声痛哭，说：“父亲啊，求你也为我祝福！”以撒说：“你弟弟已经用诡计把你的福分夺去了。”

王听了十分难过，就走上城门楼去痛哭，边走边说：“我儿押沙龙啊！我儿，我儿押沙龙啊！我恨不得可以替你死！押沙龙，我儿啊！我儿！”

万军之耶和华说：“把陪哭的妇人请来，把最会哭的妇人带来，叫她们速来为我的子民哀哭，哭得他们泪盈满眶，哭得他们泪如泉涌。因为从锡安传出哀鸣，‘我们灭亡了！我们受了奇耻大辱！我们的家园被毁，我们只好背井离乡。’”妇人啊，你们要听耶和华的话，接受祂的教诲；你们要教导女儿哀哭，教导邻居唱挽歌。因为死亡从窗户爬进我们的城堡，吞灭街上的孩童和广场上的青年。

在以色列人眼中，耶和华的荣耀在山上好像烈火。

在迦南境内的基列·亚巴，即希伯仑去世。亚伯拉罕在那里痛哭，哀悼她。

“我必将施恩和祷告的灵浇灌在大卫家和耶路撒冷的居民身上。他们必仰望我——他们所刺的那位，如丧独子一般为祂哀伤，如丧长子一般为祂痛哭。

他们到了那里，只见在场的人嚎啕大哭，场面混乱。耶稣进去问道：“你们为什么大哭大嚷呢？这孩子并没有死，只是睡着了。”

“‘我们吹娶亲的乐曲，你们不跳舞；我们唱送葬的哀歌，你们不悲伤。’

接着耶稣又说：“我们的朋友拉撒路已经睡了，我去叫醒他。”门徒说：“主啊，如果他睡了，肯定会好的。”其实耶稣是指他已经死了，门徒却以为他真的睡了。
