Elijah then said,“ See, your son is alive!”

He will not cry out or shout; he will not publicize himself in the streets.

He took Peter, James, and John with him, and became very troubled and distressed.

Go and close the door behind you and your sons. Pour the olive oil into all the containers; set aside each one when you have filled it.”So she left him and closed the door behind her and her sons. As they were bringing the containers to her, she was pouring the olive oil.When the containers were full, she said to one of her sons,“ Bring me another container.” But he answered her,“ There are no more.” Then the olive oil stopped flowing.

Now about eight days after these sayings, Jesus took with him Peter, John, and James, and went up the mountain to pray.

“ Whenever you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, because they love to pray while standing in synagogues and on street corners so that people can see them. Truly I say to you, they have their reward.But whenever you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.

He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James, and John, the brother of James.They came to the house of the synagogue ruler where he saw noisy confusion and people weeping and wailing loudly.When he entered he said to them,“ Why are you distressed and weeping? The child is not dead but asleep.”And they began making fun of him. But he put them all outside and he took the child’s father and mother and his own companions and went into the room where the child was.

But Peter sent them all outside, knelt down, and prayed. Turning to the body, he said,“ Tabitha, get up.” Then she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter, she sat up.

He got up on the bed and spread his body out over the boy; he put his mouth on the boy’s mouth, his eyes over the boy’s eyes, and the palms of his hands against the boy’s palms. He bent down over him, and the boy’s skin grew warm.Elisha went back and walked around in the house. Then he got up on the bed again and bent down over him. The child sneezed seven times and opened his eyes.Elisha called to Gehazi and said,“ Get the Shunammite woman.” So he did so and she came to him. He said to her,“ Take your son.”
