以利亚对她说：“把你儿子交给我。”以利亚就从妇人怀中将孩子接过来，抱到他所住的楼中，放在自己的床上，就求告耶和华说：“耶和华我的神啊，我寄居在这寡妇的家里，你就降祸与她，使她的儿子死了吗？”以利亚三次伏在孩子的身上，求告耶和华说：“耶和华我的神啊，求你使这孩子的灵魂仍入他的身体！”耶和华应允以利亚的话，孩子的灵魂仍入他的身体，他就活了。以利亚将孩子从楼上抱下来，进屋子交给他母亲，说：“看哪，你的儿子活了！”

他不喧嚷，不扬声，也不使街上听见他的声音。

于是带着彼得、雅各、约翰同去，就惊恐起来，极其难过，

回到家里，关上门，你和你儿子在里面将油倒在所有的器皿里，倒满了的放在一边。”于是，妇人离开以利沙去了，关上门，自己和儿子在里面；儿子把器皿拿来，她就倒油。器皿都满了，她对儿子说：“再给我拿器皿来。”儿子说：“再没有器皿了。”油就止住了。

说了这话以后约有八天，耶稣带着彼得、约翰、雅各上山去祷告。

“你们祷告的时候，不可像那假冒为善的人，爱站在会堂里和十字路口上祷告，故意叫人看见。我实在告诉你们，他们已经得了他们的赏赐。你祷告的时候，要进你的内屋，关上门，祷告你在暗中的父；你父在暗中察看，必然报答你。

于是带着彼得、雅各，和雅各的兄弟约翰同去，不许别人跟随他。他们来到管会堂的家里；耶稣看见那里乱嚷，并有人大大地哭泣哀号，进到里面，就对他们说：“为什么乱嚷哭泣呢？孩子不是死了，是睡着了。”他们就嗤笑耶稣。耶稣把他们都撵出去，就带着孩子的父母和跟随的人进了孩子所在的地方，

这十二个人有西门（耶稣又给他起名叫彼得），还有他兄弟安得烈，又有雅各和约翰，腓力和巴多罗买，

彼得叫她们都出去，就跪下祷告，转身对着死人说：“大比大，起来！”她就睁开眼睛，见了彼得，便坐起来。

上床伏在孩子身上，口对口，眼对眼，手对手；既伏在孩子身上，孩子的身体就渐渐温和了。然后他下来，在屋里来往走了一趟，又上去伏在孩子身上，孩子打了七个喷嚏，就睁开眼睛了。以利沙叫基哈西说：“你叫这书念妇人来”；于是叫了她来。以利沙说：“将你儿子抱起来。”
