“ A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds ate it up.

故此我們必須越發注意到所聽的，恐怕我們被潮流所衝走。

因為人若只是聽道、而不實行，就像一個人用鏡子察看自己生來的面貌。一察看了，便走開，隨即忘了自己是甚麼樣子。

那些在路旁的是：道撒在那裏，人聽的時候，撒但立刻來，把撒在他們心裏的道奪了去。

有鷙鳥直下來，落在祭牲屍體之上，亞伯蘭直把它們嚇走。

耶穌說：『上帝的國是這樣：如同人撒種子在地上，黑夜睡覺，白日起來：種子發芽，漸漸長大，他不曉得怎樣。地生果實，出於自然：先苗後穗，然後穗上豐滿的麥子。果實可收成的時候，他立刻遣用鐮刀，因為收割的時候到了。』

『你們、是地上的鹽。鹽若失了味，要用甚麼使它再鹹呢？那就不再有甚麼用處，只好丟在外面，給人踐踏罷了。

耶穌把另一個比喻擺在他們面前，說：『天國好比一個人撒好種子在他的田地裏。人們睡覺的時候、他的仇敵就來，將稗子加撒在麥子中間，走了。到苗發了芽、結了果仁的時候、那時稗子也顯出來了。

耶穌就用比喻教訓了他們許多事。當教訓的時候，他對他們說：『你們要聽！看哪，有一個撒種的出去撒種；撒的時候，有的落在路旁；飛鳥一來，把它喫盡了。

他就用比喻對他們講許多道理，說：『看哪，有一個撒種的出去撒種。撒的時候、有的落在路旁；飛鳥一來，把它喫盡了。

這比喻就是：那種子、是上帝之道。那些在路旁的、是人聽了道，隨後魔鬼來了，就從他們心裏把道奪去，使他們不至於信而得救。

凡行為差錯、偏離你律例的、你都踢在一邊；因為他們所思念的盡都虛假。

所以你們、要聽明白這撒種的比喻。凡聽天國之道而不領悟的，那邪惡者就來，把所撒在他心裏的攫了去：這就是撒在路旁的。

耶穌回答說：『那撒好種子的、是人子。
