And these are the ones along the path, where the word is sown: when they hear, Satan immediately comes and takes away the word that is sown in them.

“ You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.

He put another parable before them, saying,“ The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field,but while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat and went away.So when the plants came up and bore grain, then the weeds appeared also.

And he was teaching them many things in parables, and in his teaching he said to them:“ Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow.And as he sowed, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it.

Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.The ones along the path are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved.

You spurn all who go astray from your statutes, for their cunning is in vain.

“ Hear then the parable of the sower:When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is what was sown along the path.

He answered,“ The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man.
