耶穌就同他們去。離那家不遠，百夫長就差幾個朋友去見耶穌，對他說：『主啊，不用麻煩了；你進我舍下，我配不起；

忽有一個人來了，他名叫睚魯；這個人是個會堂的管事。他俯伏在耶穌腳旁，求耶穌進他的家；因為他有一個獨生女兒、約十二歲、快要死了。耶穌去的時候，羣眾擠着他。有一個女人患了血漏病已經十二年了；都沒有人能治好她。

亞哈斯說：『我不求，我不試探永恆主。』

耶穌還說着話的時候，有人從會堂管事那裏來，說：『你女兒死掉了；為甚麼還麻煩先生呢？』耶穌從旁邊聽見所說的話，就對會堂管事說：『別怕了，只要信。』他不許任何人跟隨着他，只許彼得雅各和雅各的兄弟約翰。他們來到會堂管事家裏，耶穌看了嚷亂嘈嗷和許多哭泣號慟，就進去，對他們說：『你們為甚麼嚷亂嘈嗷哭泣呢？小孩子並沒死掉，只是睡着。』他們直嗤笑耶穌。耶穌催趕了眾人都出來，就帶着小孩子的父親母親、和跟他同來的人、進了小孩子所在的地方；握住小孩子的手，對她說：『大利大，古米！』翻譯出來就是說：『閨女，起來！』閨女立刻起來，並且走路；她有十二歲了。他們就大大的驚奇。耶穌再三地叮囑他們、不要叫人知道這事；又吩咐要給她東西喫。

耶穌到了那管事家裏，看見吹簫笛的和成羣的人鬧亂嘈嗷，就說：『讓開吧；閨女並沒死掉，只是睡着。』他們直嗤笑他。那羣人被催趕出來，耶穌就進去，握住閨女的手；閨女便起來了。這名聲一出，就傳遍那地方。

而那人卻從裏面回答說：「別攪擾我了；門已經關了；我孩子們也同我在床上了；我不能起來給你」呢？
