耶穌就和他們同去。離那家不遠，百夫長託幾個朋友去見耶穌，對他說：「主啊！不要勞動；因你到我舍下，我不敢當。

有一個管會堂的，名叫睚魯，來俯伏在耶穌腳前，求耶穌到他家裏去；因他有一個獨生女兒，約有十二歲，快要死了。耶穌去的時候，眾人擁擠他。有一個女人，患了十二年的血漏，在醫生手裏花盡了她一切養生的，並沒有一人能醫好她。

亞哈斯說：「我不求；我不試探耶和華。」

還說話的時候，有人從管會堂的家裏來，說：「你的女兒死了，何必還勞動先生呢？」耶穌聽見所說的話，就對管會堂的說：「不要怕，只要信！」於是帶着彼得、雅各，和雅各的兄弟約翰同去，不許別人跟隨他。他們來到管會堂的家裏；耶穌看見那裏亂嚷，並有人大大地哭泣哀號，進到裏面，就對他們說：「為甚麼亂嚷哭泣呢？孩子不是死了，是睡着了。」他們就嗤笑耶穌。耶穌把他們都攆出去，就帶着孩子的父母和跟隨的人進了孩子所在的地方，就拉着孩子的手，對她說：「大利大，古米！」（翻出來就是說：「閨女，我吩咐你起來！」）那閨女立時起來走。他們就大大地驚奇；閨女已經十二歲了。耶穌切切地囑咐他們，不要叫人知道這事，又吩咐給她東西吃。

耶穌到了管會堂的家裏，看見有吹手，又有許多人亂嚷，就說：「退去吧！這閨女不是死了，是睡着了。」他們就嗤笑他。眾人既被攆出，耶穌就進去，拉着閨女的手，閨女便起來了。於是這風聲傳遍了那地方。

那人在裏面回答說：『不要攪擾我，門已經關閉，孩子們也同我在牀上了，我不能起來給你。』
