Then one of the synagogue rulers, named Jairus, came up, and when he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet.He asked him urgently,“ My little daughter is near death. Come and lay your hands on her so that she may be healed and live.”Jesus went with him, and a large crowd followed and pressed around him.Now a woman was there who had been suffering from a hemorrhage for twelve years.She had endured a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all that she had. Yet instead of getting better, she grew worse.When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak,for she kept saying,“ If only I touch his clothes, I will be healed.”At once the bleeding stopped, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease.Jesus knew at once that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and said,“ Who touched my clothes?”His disciples said to him,“ You see the crowd pressing against you and you say,‘ Who touched me?’”But he looked around to see who had done it.Then the woman, with fear and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before him and told him the whole truth.He said to her,“ Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your disease.”While he was still speaking, people came from the synagogue ruler’s house saying,“ Your daughter has died. Why trouble the teacher any longer?”But Jesus, paying no attention to what was said, told the synagogue ruler,“ Do not be afraid; just believe.”He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James, and John, the brother of James.They came to the house of the synagogue ruler where he saw noisy confusion and people weeping and wailing loudly.When he entered he said to them,“ Why are you distressed and weeping? The child is not dead but asleep.”And they began making fun of him. But he put them all outside and he took the child’s father and mother and his own companions and went into the room where the child was.Then, gently taking the child by the hand, he said to her,“ Talitha koum,” which means,“ Little girl, I say to you, get up.”The girl got up at once and began to walk around( she was twelve years old). They were completely astonished at this.He strictly ordered that no one should know about this, and told them to give her something to eat.

While he was still speaking, someone from the synagogue ruler’s house came and said,“ Your daughter is dead; do not trouble the teacher any longer.”

But the president of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the crowd,“ There are six days on which work should be done! So come and be healed on those days, and not on the Sabbath day.”

Crispus, the president of the synagogue, believed in the Lord together with his entire household, and many of the Corinthians who heard about it believed and were baptized.

After the reading from the law and the prophets, the leaders of the synagogue sent them a message, saying,“ Brothers, if you have any message of exhortation for the people, speak it.”

So they all seized Sosthenes, the president of the synagogue, and began to beat him in front of the judgment seat. Yet none of these things were of any concern to Gallio.

As he was saying these things, a ruler came, bowed low before him, and said,“ My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her and she will live.”Jesus and his disciples got up and followed him.But a woman who had been suffering from a hemorrhage for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak.For she kept saying to herself,“ If only I touch his cloak, I will be healed.”But when Jesus turned and saw her he said,“ Have courage, daughter! Your faith has made you well.” And the woman was healed from that hour.When Jesus entered the ruler’s house and saw the flute players and the disorderly crowd,he said,“ Go away, for the girl is not dead but asleep.” And they began making fun of him.But when the crowd had been put outside, he went in and gently took her by the hand, and the girl got up.And the news of this spread throughout that region.

Because Lydda was near Joppa, when the disciples heard that Peter was there, they sent two men to him and urged him,“ Come to us without delay.”

Martha said to Jesus,“ Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.

Now he came again to Cana in Galilee where he had made the water wine. In Capernaum there was a certain royal official whose son was sick.When he heard that Jesus had come back from Judea to Galilee, he went to him and begged him to come down and heal his son, who was about to die.So Jesus said to him,“ Unless you people see signs and wonders you will never believe!”“ Sir,” the official said to him,“ come down before my child dies.”

But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying,“ Go away from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man!”

Jesus said to him,“ I will come and heal him.”But the centurion replied,“ Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof. Instead, just say the word and my servant will be healed.

He fell with his face to the ground at Jesus’ feet and thanked him.( Now he was a Samaritan.)

and when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty- four elders threw themselves to the ground before the Lamb. Each of them had a harp and golden bowls full of incense( which are the prayers of the saints).
