One day Jesus told a story in the form of a parable to a large crowd that had gathered from many towns to hear him:

眾由諸邑集就耶穌、耶穌設譬曰、

群眾由各邑集就耶穌、耶穌設喻曰、

眾自諸邑蜂集、爭就耶穌；耶穌為設譬曰：

While a large crowd was gathering and people were coming to Jesus from town after town, he told this parable:

A large crowd gathered together. People came to Jesus from town after town. As they did, he told a story. He said,

And when a great crowd was gathering and people from town after town came to him, he said in a parable,

As a large crowd was gathering, and people were coming to Jesus from every town, he said in a parable,

Now when a large crowd was coming together, and those from the various cities were journeying to Him, He spoke by way of a parable:

And when a great multitude had gathered, and they had come to Him from every city, He spoke by a parable:

And when a great multitude came together, and they of every city resorted unto him, he spake by a parable:

A large crowd soon gathered around him, so he got into a boat. Then he sat there and taught as the people stood on the shore.He told many stories in the form of parables, such as this one:“ Listen! A farmer went out to plant some seeds.As he scattered them across his field, some seeds fell on a footpath, and the birds came and ate them.Other seeds fell on shallow soil with underlying rock. The seeds sprouted quickly because the soil was shallow.But the plants soon wilted under the hot sun, and since they didn’t have deep roots, they died.Other seeds fell among thorns that grew up and choked out the tender plants.Still other seeds fell on fertile soil, and they produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times as much as had been planted!Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.”

Once again Jesus began teaching by the lakeshore. A very large crowd soon gathered around him, so he got into a boat. Then he sat in the boat while all the people remained on the shore.He taught them by telling many stories in the form of parables, such as this one:“ Listen! A farmer went out to plant some seed.As he scattered it across his field, some of the seed fell on a footpath, and the birds came and ate it.Other seed fell on shallow soil with underlying rock.
