The man from whom the demons had gone begged that he might be with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying,

The man from whom the demons had gone out begged to go with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying,

As he was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed with demons begged him that he might be with him.And he did not permit him but said to him,“ Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.”And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him, and everyone marveled.

Then all the people of the surrounding country of the Gerasenes asked him to depart from them, for they were seized with great fear. So he got into the boat and returned.

Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man!Let them extol him in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders.

Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable.One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts.On the glorious splendor of your majesty, and on your wondrous works, I will meditate.They shall speak of the might of your awesome deeds, and I will declare your greatness.They shall pour forth the fame of your abundant goodness and shall sing aloud of your righteousness.The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made.All your works shall give thanks to you, O Lord, and all your saints shall bless you!They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom and tell of your power,to make known to the children of man your mighty deeds, and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.

You shall fear the Lord your God. You shall serve him and hold fast to him, and by his name you shall swear.He is your praise. He is your God, who has done for you these great and terrifying things that your eyes have seen.

They only were hearing it said,“ He who used to persecute us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.”And they glorified God because of me.

O Lord, I am your servant; I am your servant, the son of your maidservant. You have loosed my bonds.

You shall tell your son on that day,‘ It is because of what the Lord did for me when I came out of Egypt.’And it shall be to you as a sign on your hand and as a memorial between your eyes, that the law of the Lord may be in your mouth. For with a strong hand the Lord has brought you out of Egypt.

though formerly I was a blasphemer, persecutor, and insolent opponent. But I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief,and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life.

Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man!And let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving, and tell of his deeds in songs of joy!

things that we have heard and known, that our fathers have told us.We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wonders that he has done.He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers to teach to their children,that the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children,

I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better.

You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance. Selah

And when you come to the land that the Lord will give you, as he has promised, you shall keep this service.And when your children say to you,‘ What do you mean by this service?’you shall say,‘ It is the sacrifice of the Lord’s Passover, for he passed over the houses of the people of Israel in Egypt, when he struck the Egyptians but spared our houses.’” And the people bowed their heads and worshiped.

And when in time to come your son asks you,‘ What does this mean?’ you shall say to him,‘ By a strong hand the Lord brought us out of Egypt, from the house of slavery.For when Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let us go, the Lord killed all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man and the firstborn of animals. Therefore I sacrifice to the Lord all the males that first open the womb, but all the firstborn of my sons I redeem.’It shall be as a mark on your hand or frontlets between your eyes, for by a strong hand the Lord brought us out of Egypt.”

O God, from my youth you have taught me, and I still proclaim your wondrous deeds.So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to another generation, your power to all those to come.

I will recount the steadfast love of the Lord, the praises of the Lord, according to all that the Lord has granted us, and the great goodness to the house of Israel that he has granted them according to his compassion, according to the abundance of his steadfast love.For he said,“ Surely they are my people, children who will not deal falsely.” And he became their Savior.In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them; in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old.But they rebelled and grieved his Holy Spirit; therefore he turned to be their enemy, and himself fought against them.Then he remembered the days of old, of Moses and his people. Where is he who brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of his flock? Where is he who put in the midst of them his Holy Spirit,who caused his glorious arm to go at the right hand of Moses, who divided the waters before them to make for himself an everlasting name,who led them through the depths? Like a horse in the desert, they did not stumble.

What shall I render to the Lord for all his benefits to me?

But Ananias answered,“ Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much evil he has done to your saints at Jerusalem.And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on your name.”But the Lord said to him,“ Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel.For I will show him how much he must suffer for the sake of my name.”

Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them.Full of splendor and majesty is his work, and his righteousness endures forever.He has caused his wondrous works to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and merciful.

When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before him and said with a loud voice,“ What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, do not torment me.”

One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple.
