那时远远有一大群猪正在吃东西。那些鬼就求耶稣，说：“如果要赶我们出来，就准我们进到猪群里去吧。”耶稣对他们说：“出去吧！”他们就出来，进了猪群。那一群猪忽然闯下山崖，掉在海里淹死了。放猪的人逃进城里，把被鬼附的人的遭遇和一切事情，都报告出来。

耶和华对撒但说：“好吧，他所有的一切都交在你手中，只是不可以伸手害他。”于是撒但从耶和华面前退去。

他回答：‘我要出去，在亚哈所有先知的口中，作说谎的灵。’耶和华说：‘你可以去引诱他，你也必能成功，你去这样行吧！’

耶稣说：“如果不是从天上给你权柄，你就无权办我；因此，把我交给你的那人，罪更重了。”

耶和华对撒但说：“好吧，他在你手中，不过，要留存他的命。”
