耶和華對撒旦說：「好吧，他的一切都在你手中，但不可傷害他。」撒旦便從耶和華面前退去。

耶和華問他用什麼方法，他說，『我要做謊言之靈，進入他眾先知的口中。』耶和華說，『你必能成功，就這樣做吧。』

耶穌回答說：「除非從上面賜下權柄給你，否則你無權處置我。因此，把我交給你的那個人罪更大。」

耶和華說：「好吧，他在你手中，但要留他一命。」
