主啊，求你醒起！你為什麼還在沉睡？求你醒來，不要永久拋棄我們！

但是過了不久，一股叫做「東北風」的颶風，從島上襲來。船被困住，頂不住風，我們只好任憑船被颳走。我們沿著一個叫做克勞達小島的背風岸行駛的時候，好不容易才控制住救生艇。水手們把救生艇拖上來以後，就用纜繩繞過大船底綁好；又怕在敘爾提斯淺灘上會擱淺，就把錨放低，任船漂流。我們被暴風猛烈地襲擊。第二天，他們開始把貨物拋在海裡。第三天，他們又親手把船上的用具拋出去。一連好幾天見不到太陽和星星，又有暴風雨催逼著，最後我們連獲救的希望都斷絕了。

耶和華啊，洪流揚起——洪流揚起它們的聲音，洪流揚起它們的濤聲！耶和華在至高處大有能力，勝過大水的聲音，勝過海洋巨大的波浪！

就在那些日子裡，有一天耶穌和他的門徒們上了船，耶穌對他們說：「我們渡到湖對岸去吧。」他們就出發了。

要不是耶和華在我們這邊，那麼，人們起來攻擊我們時，他們的怒氣向我們發作時，他們早就活活吞掉了我們——眾水漫過我們，急流淹沒我們，

「你這經受困苦、屢遭風暴、不得安慰的城啊！看哪！我必把你的石頭安置在金屬銻上，以藍寶石奠定你的根基，

耶和華的膀臂啊，醒來，醒來，以力量為衣！醒來吧，就像你在太初的日子、亙古的世代！從前砍碎拉哈伯、刺透海中巨獸的，難道不是你嗎？使海洋深淵之水乾涸的，使海洋深處變為道路，讓救贖之民經過的，難道不是你嗎？

又一些人乘船航行在海上，在大水上往來經商；他們看見了耶和華所做的，以及他在深海中的奇妙作為。他一吩咐，暴風就興起，揚起海洋的波濤。他們上到天空，又下到深淵，在危急中魂飛魄散。他們搖搖晃晃，東倒西歪，好像醉酒的人，他們一切的智慧都毫無用處。於是他們在危難中向耶和華呼求，他就把他們從困境中領出來。他使狂風止息，歸於靜寂，海洋的波濤也平靜了。他們因為波濤平靜下來就歡喜，他就引導他們到想要去的安全港。

烈火和冰雹、冰雪和雲霧、遵行他話語的暴風、

因為我們的大祭司不是不能同情我們的種種軟弱，而是在各方面照著與我們相同的樣式受過試探，只是沒有犯罪。
