He takes away every branch that does not bear fruit in me. He prunes every branch that bears fruit so that it will bear more fruit.

For the one who has will be given more, and he will have more than enough. But the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.

But God said to him,‘ You fool! This very night your life will be demanded back from you, but who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’So it is with the one who stores up riches for himself, but is not rich toward God.”

“ Take these words to heart, for the Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men.”

Guard against self- deception, each of you. If someone among you thinks he is wise in this age, let him become foolish so that he can become wise.

Therefore we must pay closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.

If anyone considers himself a prophet or spiritual person, he should acknowledge that what I write to you is the Lord’s command.

There is a way that seems right to a person, but its end is the way that leads to death.

So he called the manager in and said to him,‘ What is this I hear about you? Turn in the account of your administration, because you can no longer be my manager.’Then the manager said to himself,‘ What should I do, since my master is taking my position away from me? I’m not strong enough to dig, and I’m too ashamed to beg.I know what to do so that when I am put out of management, people will welcome me into their homes.’

These Jews were more open- minded than those in Thessalonica, for they eagerly received the message, examining the scriptures carefully every day to see if these things were so.

Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters! Let every person be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger.For human anger does not accomplish God’s righteousness.So put away all filth and evil excess and humbly welcome the message implanted within you, which is able to save your souls.But be sure you live out the message and do not merely listen to it and so deceive yourselves.For if someone merely listens to the message and does not live it out, he is like someone who gazes at his own face in a mirror.For he gazes at himself and then goes out and immediately forgets what sort of person he was.But the one who peers into the perfect law of liberty and fixes his attention there, and does not become a forgetful listener but one who lives it out– he will be blessed in what he does.If someone thinks he is religious yet does not bridle his tongue, and so deceives his heart, his religion is futile.

by making your ear attentive to wisdom, and by turning your heart to understanding,indeed, if you call out for discernment– raise your voice for understanding–if you seek it like silver, and search for it like hidden treasure,then you will understand how to fear the LORD, and you will discover knowledge about God.

he said to them,“ Keep in mind all the words I am solemnly proclaiming to you today; you must command your children to observe carefully all the words of this law.For this is no idle word for you– it is your life! By this word you will live a long time in the land you are about to cross the Jordan to possess.”

On that day, many will say to me,‘ Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in your name, and in your name cast out demons and do many powerful deeds?’Then I will declare to them,‘ I never knew you. Go away from me, you lawbreakers!’

For by the grace given to me I say to every one of you not to think more highly of yourself than you ought to think, but to think with sober discernment, as God has distributed to each of you a measure of faith.

“ But when you see the abomination of desolation standing where it should not be( let the reader understand), then those in Judea must flee to the mountains.

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but I do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.And if I have prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so that I can remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.If I give away everything I own, and if I give over my body in order to boast, but do not have love, I receive no benefit.

If anyone has ears to hear, he had better listen!”And he said to them,“ Take care about what you hear. The measure you use will be the measure you receive, and more will be added to you.For whoever has will be given more, but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.”

If someone thinks he knows something, he does not yet know to the degree that he needs to know.

– though mine too are significant. If someone thinks he has good reasons to put confidence in human credentials, I have more:

Therefore I sent for you at once, and you were kind enough to come. So now we are all here in the presence of God to listen to everything the Lord has commanded you to say to us.”

So get rid of all evil and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander.And yearn like newborn infants for pure, spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up to salvation,

“ There was a rich man who dressed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day.But at his gate lay a poor man named Lazarus whose body was covered with sores,who longed to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. In addition, the dogs came and licked his sores.“ Now the poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried.And in hell, as he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far off with Lazarus at his side.So he called out,‘ Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in anguish in this fire.’But Abraham said,‘ Child, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things and Lazarus likewise bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in anguish.
