Therefore consider carefully how you listen. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they think they have will be taken from them.”

Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit.

“ For to everyone who has, more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away.

But God said to him,‘ You fool! This very night your soul is demanded of you; and as for all that you have prepared, who will own it now?’Such is the one who stores up treasure for himself, and is not rich in relation to God.”

“ As for you, let these words sink into your ears: for the Son of Man is going to be handed over to men.”

Take care that no one deceives himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, he must become foolish, so that he may become wise.

For this reason we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it.

If anyone thinks that he is a prophet or spiritual, let him recognize that the things which I write to you are the Lord’s commandment.

There is a way which seems right to a person, But its end is the way of death.

And he summoned him and said to him,‘ What is this I hear about you? Give an accounting of your management, for you can no longer be manager.’And the manager said to himself,‘ What am I to do, since my master is taking the management away from me? I am not strong enough to dig; I am ashamed to beg.I know what I will do, so that when I am removed from the management people will welcome me into their homes.’

Now these people were more noble minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.

You know this, my beloved brothers and sisters. Now everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger;for a man’s anger does not bring about the righteousness of God.Therefore, ridding yourselves of all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not just hearers who deceive themselves.For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror;for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was.But one who has looked intently at the perfect law, the law of freedom, and has continued in it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an active doer, this person will be blessed in what he does.If anyone thinks himself to be religious, yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this person’s religion is worthless.

Make your ear attentive to wisdom; Incline your heart to understanding.For if you cry out for insight, And raise your voice for understanding;If you seek her as silver And search for her as for hidden treasures;Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, And discover the knowledge of God.

he said to them,“ Take to your heart all the words with which I am warning you today, which you will command your sons to follow carefully, all the words of this Law.For it is not a trivial matter for you; indeed it is your life. And by this word you will prolong your days in the land, which you are about to cross the Jordan to possess.”

Many will say to Me on that day,‘ Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’And then I will declare to them,‘ I never knew you; leave Me, you who practice lawlessness.’

For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith.

“ Now when you see the abomination of desolation standing where it should not be— let the reader understand— then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains.

If I speak with the tongues of mankind and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.If I have the gift of prophecy and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.And if I give away all my possessions to charity, and if I surrender my body so that I may glory, but do not have love, it does me no good.

If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.”And He was saying to them,“ Take care what you listen to. By your standard of measure it will be measured to you; and more will be given you besides.For whoever has, to him more will be given; and whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.”

If anyone thinks that he knows anything, he has not yet known as he ought to know;

although I myself could boast as having confidence even in the flesh. If anyone else thinks he is confident in the flesh, I have more reason:

So I sent men to you immediately, and you have been kind enough to come. Now then, we are all here present before God to hear everything that you have been commanded by the Lord.”

Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander,and like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation,

“ Now there was a rich man, and he habitually dressed in purple and fine linen, enjoying himself in splendor every day.And a poor man named Lazarus was laid at his gate, covered with sores,and longing to be fed from the scraps which fell from the rich man’s table; not only that, the dogs also were coming and licking his sores.Now it happened that the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s arms; and the rich man also died and was buried.And in Hades he raised his eyes, being in torment, and* saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his arms.And he cried out and said,‘ Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazarus, so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.’But Abraham said,‘ Child, remember that during your life you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things; but now he is being comforted here, and you are in agony.
