耶穌又對他們說：「人拿燈來，難道是要放在斗底下，床底下，而不放在燈臺上嗎？因為掩藏的事沒有不顯出來的，隱瞞的事也沒有不露出來的。

好使你們無可指責，誠實無偽，在這彎曲悖謬的世代作神無瑕疵的兒女。你們在這世代中要像明光照耀，將生命的道顯明出來，使我在基督的日子得以誇耀我沒有白跑，也沒有徒勞。

至於你所看見、在我右手中的七顆星和那七個金燈臺的奧祕就是：七顆星是七個教會的使者，七個燈臺是七個教會。」「你要寫信給以弗所教會的使者，說：『那右手拿着七顆星，在七個金燈臺中間行走的這樣說：

人點燈，不放在斗底下，而是放在燈臺上，就照亮一家的人。你們的光也要這樣照在人前，叫他們看見你們的好行為，把榮耀歸給你們在天上的父。」

他們就是那站在世界之主面前的兩棵橄欖樹和兩個燈臺。
