Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself,“ If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, for she is a sinner.”

When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself,“ If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is— that she is a sinner.”

When the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he said to himself,“ This man, if He were a prophet, would know who and what kind of woman this is who is touching Him— she’s a sinner!”

Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw[ it], he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman[ this is] that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.

Fear seized them all, and they glorified God, saying,“ A great prophet has arisen among us!” and“ God has visited his people!”

And the Pharisees and the scribes grumbled, saying,“ This man receives sinners and eats with them.”

who say,“ Keep to yourself, do not come near me, for I am too holy for you.” These are a smoke in my nostrils, a fire that burns all the day.

For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery,

The Pharisees answered them,“ Have you also been deceived?Have any of the authorities or the Pharisees believed in him?But this crowd that does not know the law is accursed.”Nicodemus, who had gone to him before, and who was one of them, said to them,“ Does our law judge a man without first giving him a hearing and learning what he does?”They replied,“ Are you from Galilee too? Search and see that no prophet arises from Galilee.”

And behold, a woman of the city, who was a sinner, when she learned that he was reclining at table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask of ointment,

Bear fruits in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham.

And the manager said to himself,‘ What shall I do, since my master is taking the management away from me? I am not strong enough to dig, and I am ashamed to beg.

But he was angry and refused to go in. His father came out and entreated him,but he answered his father,‘ Look, these many years I have served you, and I never disobeyed your command, yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might celebrate with my friends.But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him!’

The woman said to him,“ Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.

for he is like one who is inwardly calculating.“ Eat and drink!” he says to you, but his heart is not with you.

He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and treated others with contempt:“ Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus:‘ God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.

So for the second time they called the man who had been blind and said to him,“ Give glory to God. We know that this man is a sinner.”

Now some of the scribes were sitting there, questioning in their hearts,“ Why does this man speak like that? He is blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”

And there was much muttering about him among the people. While some said,“ He is a good man,” others said,“ No, he is leading the people astray.”

When they heard these words, some of the people said,“ This really is the Prophet.”Others said,“ This is the Christ.” But some said,“ Is the Christ to come from Galilee?

Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said,“ See, my master has spared this Naaman the Syrian, in not accepting from his hand what he brought. As the Lord lives, I will run after him and get something from him.”

For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself,‘ Though I neither fear God nor respect man,

But when he heard it, he said,“ Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.Go and learn what this means:‘ I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”

“ What do you think? A man had two sons. And he went to the first and said,‘ Son, go and work in the vineyard today.’And he answered,‘ I will not,’ but afterward he changed his mind and went.And he went to the other son and said the same. And he answered,‘ I go, sir,’ but did not go.Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said,“ The first.” Jesus said to them,“ Truly, I say to you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes go into the kingdom of God before you.

So the last will be first, and the first last.”

and he thought to himself,‘ What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’
