The Son of Man, on the other hand, feasts and drinks, and you say,‘ He’s a glutton and a drunkard, and a friend of tax collectors and other sinners!’ But wisdom is shown to be right by its results.”

“ And so, my children, listen to me, for all who follow my ways are joyful.Listen to my instruction and be wise. Don’t ignore it.Joyful are those who listen to me, watching for me daily at my gates, waiting for me outside my home!For whoever finds me finds life and receives favor from the Lord.But those who miss me injure themselves. All who hate me love death.”

It is senseless to pay to educate a fool, since he has no heart for learning.

Let those who are wise understand these things. Let those with discernment listen carefully. The paths of the Lord are true and right, and righteous people live by walking in them. But in those paths sinners stumble and fall.

But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means.Those who are spiritual can evaluate all things, but they themselves cannot be evaluated by others.

When they heard this, all the people— even the tax collectors— agreed that God’s way was right, for they had been baptized by John.
