眾百姓和稅吏既受過約翰的洗，聽見這話，就以神為義；

庶民及稅吏、聽而受洗於約翰、且稱頌天主之義、

眾與稅吏、咸受洗於如望、聞其言莫不稱頌天主至德；

( All the people, even the tax collectors, when they heard Jesus’ words, acknowledged that God’s way was right, because they had been baptized by John.

All the people who heard Jesus’ words agreed that God’s way was right. Even the tax collectors agreed. These people had all been baptized by John.

( When all the people heard this, and the tax collectors too, they declared God just, having been baptized with the baptism of John,

又有稅吏來要受洗，問他說：「夫子，我們當做甚麼呢？」

但智慧之子都以智慧為是。」

唱神僕人摩西的歌和羔羊的歌，說：主神－全能者啊，你的作為大哉！奇哉！萬世之王啊，你的道途義哉！誠哉！

斷乎不能！不如說，神是真實的，人都是虛謊的。如經上所記：你責備人的時候，顯為公義；被人議論的時候，可以得勝。我且照着人的常話說，我們的不義若顯出神的義來，我們可以怎麼說呢？神降怒，是他不義嗎？斷乎不是！若是這樣，神怎能審判世界呢？

這人已經在主的道上受了教訓，心裏火熱，將耶穌的事詳細講論教訓人；只是他單曉得約翰的洗禮。

我向你犯罪，惟獨得罪了你；在你眼前行了這惡，以致你責備我的時候顯為公義，判斷我的時候顯為清正。

保羅說：「這樣，你們受的是甚麼洗呢？」他們說：「是約翰的洗。」

你們想，這兩個兒子是哪一個遵行父命呢？」他們說：「大兒子。」耶穌說：「我實在告訴你們，稅吏和娼妓倒比你們先進神的國。因為約翰遵着義路到你們這裏來，你們卻不信他；稅吏和娼妓倒信他。你們看見了，後來還是不懊悔去信他。」

我聽見掌管眾水的天使說：昔在、今在的聖者啊，你這樣判斷是公義的；

因為不知道神的義，想要立自己的義，就不服神的義了。

那時，耶路撒冷和猶太全地，並約旦河一帶地方的人，都出去到約翰那裏，承認他們的罪，在約旦河裏受他的洗。

亞多尼‧比色說：「從前有七十個王，手腳的大拇指都被我砍斷，在我桌子底下拾取零碎食物。現在神按着我所行的報應我了。」於是他們將亞多尼‧比色帶到耶路撒冷，他就死在那裏。
