But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed.For that man shouldn’t think that he will receive anything from the Lord.He is a double- minded man, unstable in all his ways.

In those days, John the Baptizer came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea, saying,“ Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!”For this is he who was spoken of by Isaiah the prophet, saying,“ The voice of one crying in the wilderness, make the way of the Lord ready! Make his paths straight!”Now John himself wore clothing made of camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey.Then people from Jerusalem, all of Judea, and all the region around the Jordan went out to him.

These are wells without water, clouds driven by a storm; for whom the blackness of darkness has been reserved forever.

He said,“ I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness,‘ Make straight the way of the Lord,’ as Isaiah the prophet said.”

John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching the baptism of repentance for forgiveness of sins.All the country of Judea and all those of Jerusalem went out to him. They were baptized by him in the Jordan river, confessing their sins.

Boiling over like water, you shall not excel; because you went up to your father’s bed, then defiled it. He went up to my couch.

As these went their way, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John,“ What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?But what did you go out to see? A man in soft clothing? Behold, those who wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses.
