如望使徒既返、耶穌向眾論如望曰：『曩者爾赴曠野、欲何睹乎？其飄搖風中之蘆葦乎？

After John’s messengers left, Jesus began to speak to the crowd about John:“ What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed swayed by the wind?

So John’s messengers left. Then Jesus began to speak to the crowd about John. He said,“ What did you go out into the desert to see? Tall grass waving in the wind?

When John’s messengers had gone, Jesus began to speak to the crowds concerning John:“ What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?

After John’s disciples left, Jesus began talking about him to the crowds.“ What kind of man did you go into the wilderness to see? Was he a weak reed, swayed by every breath of wind?

After John’s messengers left, he began to speak to the crowds about John:“ What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed swaying in the wind?

那孩子漸漸長大，心靈強健；他在野地裏、直到他向以色列出現的日子。

亞那和該亞法做大祭司——那時上帝的話傳與撒迦利亞的兒子約翰在野地裏。

使我們不再做孩童、像波浪漂來漂去，被各樣教義的風帶前帶後，就是人用欺騙手段、用狡猾施展謬妄之詭計造出來的。

所以你們、親愛的，你們既先知道這些事，就該自己防備，免得被逆天者的謬妄所帶走，而從自己的堅固上墜落了。

那麼我既有了這個意思，難道還有輕浮的態度麼？還是我所定的意是按着肉體而定意，以致在我也有忽是忽非麼？我指着可信可靠的上帝來說：我們對你們說的話並沒有是而又非的。上帝的兒子耶穌基督，那在你們中間藉着我們、藉着我跟西拉和提摩太、而被宣傳的、並沒有是而又非的：在基督只有一個「是」。上帝的應許、無論多麼多，在基督都是「是」的；所以我們說「阿們」時也是藉着基督，使榮耀藉着我們而歸於上帝。

不過他總要用信心求，一點也不疑惑；因為疑惑的人就像海中的大浪被風吹蕩翻騰。那種人別想要從主那裏得到甚麼了；心懷二意的人在他所行的一切路上都搖蕩不定。

當那些日子、施洗者約翰出來，在猶太的野地宣傳說，『你們要悔改；因為天國近了。』這人就是那藉神言人以賽亞所說的，說：『有聲音在野地裏呼喊着說：「要豫備主的道路，造直他的路徑來。」』這約翰穿着駱駝毛的衣服，將皮帶束腰；他的食物是蝗蟲野蜜。那時耶路撒冷和全猶太、跟約但河全周圍地區的人、連續地出去到約翰那裏，

這些人呢、是無水的泉源，是暴風催迫的霧氣，有黑暗的幽冥給他們保留着。

約翰說：『我乃是在野地裏呼喊者的聲音說：「修直主的道路」，正如神言人以賽亞所說的。』

照這話，施洗的約翰就來了，在野地裏宣傳悔改以得罪赦的洗禮。猶太全地區，和耶路撒冷的眾人，連續地出去到他那裏，承認他們的罪，在約但河裏受他的洗。

但是沸騰橫溢如水，你必不能得超越，因為你上了你父親的床，就給沾污了：我的鋪蓋你上去了。

他們走了，耶穌就對羣眾講論約翰說：『你們出去到野地裏要看甚麼呢？被風搖動的蘆葦麼？你們出去，到底要看甚麼？穿着細軟的人麼？看哪，那披着細軟的人是在王宮裏呢。
