But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.”

But here is what happens when people listen to my words and do not obey them. They are like a man who builds a house on soft ground instead of solid rock. The moment the river rushes against that house, it falls down. It is completely destroyed.”

Whoso walketh uprightly shall be delivered; But he that is perverse in his ways shall fall at once.

The sower went forth to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden under foot, and the birds of the heaven devoured it.And other fell on the rock; and as soon as it grew, it withered away, because it had no moisture.And other fell amidst the thorns; and the thorns grew with it, and choked it.

For this cause I also, when I could no longer forbear, sent that I might know your faith, lest by any means the tempter had tempted you, and our labor should be in vain.

They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they all are not of us.

and they have no root in themselves, but endure for a while; then, when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, straightway they stumble.

Yea, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply virtue; and in your virtue knowledge;and in your knowledge self- control; and in your self- control patience; and in your patience godliness;and in your godliness brotherly kindness; and in your brotherly kindness love.For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to be not idle nor unfruitful unto the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.For he that lacketh these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins.

But the unclean spirit, when he is gone out of the man, passeth through waterless places, seeking rest, and findeth it not.Then he saith, I will return into my house whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more evil than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man becometh worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this evil generation.

Even so faith, if it have not works, is dead in itself.Yea, a man will say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: show me thy faith apart from thy works, and I by my works will show thee my faith.Thou believest that God is one; thou doest well: the demons also believe, and shudder.But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith apart from works is barren?Was not Abraham our father justified by works, in that he offered up Isaac his son upon the altar?Thou seest that faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect;and the scripture was fulfilled which saith, And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned unto him for righteousness; and he was called the friend of God.Ye see that by works a man is justified, and not only by faith.And in like manner was not also Rahab the harlot justified by works, in that she received the messengers, and sent them out another way?For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, even so faith apart from works is dead.

For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein and overcome, the last state is become worse with them than the first.

I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which were done in you, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgment, than for you.And thou, Capernaum, shalt thou be exalted unto heaven? thou shalt be brought down unto Hades.He that heareth you heareth me; and he that rejecteth you rejecteth me; and he that rejecteth me rejecteth him that sent me.

And that servant, who knew his lord’s will, and made not ready, nor did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes;

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deluding your own selves.For if any one is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a mirror:for he beholdeth himself, and goeth away, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.But he that looketh into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and so continueth, being not a hearer that forgetteth but a doer that worketh, this man shall be blessed in his doing.If any man thinketh himself to be religious, while he bridleth not his tongue but deceiveth his heart, this man’s religion is vain.

And punishing them oftentimes in all the synagogues, I strove to make them blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto foreign cities.

I know that after my departing grievous wolves shall enter in among you, not sparing the flock;

As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of Jehovah, we will not hearken unto thee.But we will certainly perform every word that is gone forth out of our mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink- offerings unto her, as we have done, we and our fathers, our kings and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem; for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil.

Every branch in me that beareth not fruit, he taketh it away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he cleanseth it, that it may bear more fruit.

And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

And then shall many stumble, and shall deliver up one another, and shall hate one another.

I will not punish your daughters when they play the harlot, nor your brides when they commit adultery; for the men themselves go apart with harlots, and they sacrifice with the prostitutes; and the people that doth not understand shall be overthrown.
