How can you say to your friend,‘ Let me take the bit of sawdust out of your eye’? How can you say this while there is a piece of wood in your own eye? You pretender! First take the piece of wood out of your own eye. Then you will be able to see clearly to take the bit of sawdust out of your friend’s eye.

How can you think of saying,‘ Friend, let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye? Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.

Or how can you say to your brother,‘ Brother, let me take out the splinter that is in your eye,’ when you yourself don’t see the beam of wood in your eye? Hypocrite! First take the beam of wood out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the splinter in your brother’s eye.

For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, so that you may see.

“ The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light,but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!

I appeal to you for my child, Onesimus, whose father I became in my imprisonment.( Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.)

Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things.

You who abhor idols, do you rob temples?You who boast in the law dishonor God by breaking the law.For, as it is written,“ The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.”For circumcision indeed is of value if you obey the law, but if you break the law, your circumcision becomes uncircumcision.So, if a man who is uncircumcised keeps the precepts of the law, will not his uncircumcision be regarded as circumcision?Then he who is physically uncircumcised but keeps the law will condemn you who have the written code and circumcision but break the law.For no one is a Jew who is merely one outwardly, nor is circumcision outward and physical.But a Jew is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. His praise is not from man but from God.

The one who states his case first seems right, until the other comes and examines him.

You are witnesses, and God also, how holy and righteous and blameless was our conduct toward you believers.For you know how, like a father with his children,we exhorted each one of you and encouraged you and charged you to walk in a manner worthy of God, who calls you into his own kingdom and glory.

“ But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. For you neither enter yourselves nor allow those who would enter to go in.

Then the Lord answered him,“ You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger and lead it away to water it?

For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins.

Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.

But to the wicked God says:“ What right have you to recite my statutes or take my covenant on your lips?For you hate discipline, and you cast my words behind you.If you see a thief, you are pleased with him, and you keep company with adulterers.“ You give your mouth free rein for evil, and your tongue frames deceit.You sit and speak against your brother; you slander your own mother’s son.These things you have done, and I have been silent; you thought that I was one like yourself. But now I rebuke you and lay the charge before you.

You have neither part nor lot in this matter, for your heart is not right before God.

And Peter remembered the saying of Jesus,“ Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” And he went out and wept bitterly.

but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.”

And for three days he was without sight, and neither ate nor drank.Now there was a disciple at Damascus named Ananias. The Lord said to him in a vision,“ Ananias.” And he said,“ Here I am, Lord.”And the Lord said to him,“ Rise and go to the street called Straight, and at the house of Judas look for a man of Tarsus named Saul, for behold, he is praying,and he has seen in a vision a man named Ananias come in and lay his hands on him so that he might regain his sight.”But Ananias answered,“ Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much evil he has done to your saints at Jerusalem.And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on your name.”But the Lord said to him,“ Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel.For I will show him how much he must suffer for the sake of my name.”So Ananias departed and entered the house. And laying his hands on him he said,“ Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus who appeared to you on the road by which you came has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”And immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he rose and was baptized;and taking food, he was strengthened. For some days he was with the disciples at Damascus.And immediately he proclaimed Jesus in the synagogues, saying,“ He is the Son of God.”
