你們若借錢給人，指望能從他們收還，有甚麼可酬謝的？就是「罪人」也借錢給「罪人」要收回相等的呀。

貸而思償、何恩之有？罪人亦相貸而相償焉。

And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full.

And suppose you lend money to those who can pay you back. Should anyone praise you for that? Even a sinner lends to sinners, expecting them to pay everything back.

And if you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to get back the same amount.

And if you lend money only to those who can repay you, why should you get credit? Even sinners will lend to other sinners for a full return.

耶穌也對那請他的人說：『你辦午飯或晚飯的時候，不要邀請你的朋友、或弟兄、或親戚、或富足的鄰舍；恐怕他們也回請你，報答你。不，你辦迎賓席的時候，要請討飯的、殘廢的、瘸腿的、眼瞎的，你就有福了。因為他們沒有甚麼可報答你；在義人的復活生活中，你就會得着報答了。』

不，你們要愛你們的仇敵，善待他們；要借給他們，絕不期望甚麼。那麼你們的賞報就大了，你們就做了至高者的兒子了；因為他待忘恩負義和邪惡的人都有慈惠。

你對他總要展開手，照他所缺乏的、借足給他、去補他的缺乏。你要謹慎，不可心裏生起卑鄙的念頭、說：「第七年豁免年近了」，你便惡眉惡眼斜視着你窮的族弟兄，甚麼都不給他，以致他因你而呼求永恆主，你就有罪了。你總要給他；給他的時候你不要心疼，因為因了這事的緣故永恆主你的上帝總要在你一切工作上、在你下手辦的一切事上、賜福與你。因為窮人是不會從你國中斷絕的，所以我吩咐你說：「你對你國中的族弟兄、你的困苦人貧窮人、總要展開手來。
