And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James[ the son] of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.

And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.

And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy;

And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.

Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James[ the son] of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus;

When Jesus then lifted up[ his] eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?

One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, saith unto him,

And so[ was] also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.

Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.

Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

When Simon Peter saw[ it], he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.

And when he had gone a little further thence, he saw James the[ son] of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets.

One of the two which heard John[ speak], and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.

And after six days Jesus taketh[ with him] Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them.

And forthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.

So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon,[ son] of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.He saith to him again the second time, Simon,[ son] of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.He saith unto him the third time, Simon,[ son] of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry[ thee] whither thou wouldest not.This spake he, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me.Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee?Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what[ shall] this man[ do]?Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what[ is that] to thee? follow thou me.Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what[ is that] to thee?This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true.
