有一次，在安息日，耶稣从麦田经过，他的门徒一面走路，一面摘麦穗。法利赛人对耶稣说：“你看，他们为什么作安息日不可作的事？”耶稣对他们说：“大卫和跟他一起的人在饥饿缺食的时候所作的，你们没有念过吗？他不是在亚比亚他作大祭司的时候，进了神的殿，吃了除祭司以外谁都不可以吃的陈设饼，而且还给跟他在一起的人吃吗？”耶稣又告诉他们：“安息日是为人设立的，人并不是为安息日设立的。这样，人子也是安息日的主。”

安息日那天，耶稣从麦田经过；他的门徒饿了，就摘了些麦穗来吃。法利赛人看见了，就对他说：“你看，你的门徒作了安息日不可作的事。”耶稣对他们说：“大卫和跟他在一起的人，在饥饿的时候所作的，你们没有念过吗？他不是进了神的殿，吃了他和跟他在一起的人不可以吃，只有祭司才可以吃的陈设饼吗？律法书上记着：安息日，祭司在殿里供职，触犯了安息日，也不算有罪；你们也没有念过吗？我告诉你们，这里有一位是比圣殿更大的。如果你们明白‘我喜爱怜悯，不喜爱祭祀’这句话的意思，就不会把无罪的定罪了。因为人子是安息日的主。”

第一天应当有圣会，什么劳碌的工你们都不可作。

“你要告诉以色列人，对他们说：你们到了我赐给你们的地，收割庄稼的时候，要把初熟庄稼的一捆带到祭司那里。他要在耶和华面前摇禾捆，在安息日的次日把它摇一摇，使你们蒙悦纳。

“你们要吃无酵饼七天；可是第一天就要把酵从你们的家中除去；因为从第一日起直到第七日，凡吃有酵之物的，那人必从以色列中被除灭。

“你们要从安息日的次日，把禾捆带来作摇祭那日起，计算整整七个星期；

“你要计算七个七日，从开镰收割禾稼的时候算起，共计七个七日。
